You know, there's this ploy that a tourist area around the neighborhood I grew up outside of NA/Western Europe that involved shaking down men by threatening to call the cops on them with allegations of rape/violence. This is the first thing that came to mind. You would find someone rich, young, gullible at a hotel bar and once you're alone in private, the ploy would unfold leading to a choice to pay money or have the police called. Just a little thing that came to mind when I read the details. My grandmother and aunt were in destitute after they were widowed and left with kids. The stories I heard growing up makes the type of shake down i mentioned ordinary in comparison.

I've already stated it's most likely complete bullshit. The conversation got sidetracked by a few select members who were trying to make the argument that it would be ok to assault a woman if you are 18 or 19 years old because 'their brains are not fully developed yet'.

I don't think that was their argument, that it would be okay to assault someone. I think they were being more forgiving given how much time has passed and that people can change, especially when it happens at those ages.

Like I don't agree with beating anyone up, male or female, but if in theory, this occurred in 2011, he got punished, learned from it, and has changed, why can't we also move on?

The only issue I'd have here if this story is true is if he got punished for it. If he hasn't then I'd have no issue in seeing him lose his job.

This was an effort to discredit and effectively send him into exile with a scarlet 'T' on his forehead. Only a jail cell in a prison camp awaits him in Russia now.

The 'time away from the team' is almost certainly focused on upgrading his personal security now that the Putin has signaled his intentions.
