This is an article that contains the actual interview with Nazarov and it is
extremely politically charged, and I would recommend everyone read it:
За что Артемий Панарин мог сесть в начале 2010-х?
Translated title and lead: Why could Artemy Panarin sit down in the early 2010s? Why is the Russian NHL star so vehemently criticizing the order in his native country, but "forgets" about his own "arts" (so we know this will be good)
Some additional quotes from the author of the piece, and also from Nazarov:
"Comprehending the school of life in the harsh Chelyabinsk "Tractor" Panarin, whose name is Khlebushek in the NHL, seems to have forgotten his roots, his teachers, and some facts of his own biography." (This is when they start in with a quick summary of the incident)
"-And what about the States - he plays well there, scores a lot, gives accurate passes ...
- I'm not talking about how he plays. I mean that he "broadcasts". What Artemy has been doing in recent years does not do him credit as a citizen of Russia, a member of the national team." (As
@Trxjw mentioned, here's a clear reference to this hurting his standing with the national team)
"- For what?
- In his opinion, Russia is worse now than in the 90s. He claims that lawlessness reigns in the country. Somehow there he calculated that 70% of residents do not need "real truth" at all.
- Wait a minute. According to his calculations, 100 million compatriots do not understand anything?
- Well, yes, and such an advanced Artemy, sitting across the ocean, understands everything in the world. To be honest, it's not even funny.
- Andrey Viktorovich, well, many famous people in social networks teach others, often quite categorically."
- So if Panarin stopped at this. Not. The guy began to call on fellow citizens for riots and riots. Demands freedom for shameless criminal liars." (Just coming right out with it--this is all political)
"- Such a seemingly honest, open guy.
- He has the image of Mister Justice. Thousands of subscribers believe him. Damn it, Artemy, if you want to be honest, tell me everything honestly about yourself. Do you even remember about that Riga history? You yourself have trodden your way to the zone. And big people and not the biggest money saved you from the crooked path.
- Well, it is unlikely that there will be a self-exposure session.
“Why don’t millionaire Panarin walk out of his Manhattan penthouse live?” Just in front of the camera to share the casual moments of your life? Or did the NHL star forget about those events in Riga, threw it out of his head and out of his life?" (Yup, no bitterness or resentment coming from this guy at all)
"- This amount was paid by the culprit of the brawl?
- His salary then, it seems to me, clearly did not reach this amount.
- So they didn't start a criminal case?
- Not. And he, it seems, could not believe that he got off with a slight fright.
- How was it expressed?
- While waiting for landing, he was not himself. We still laughed: “Let's check Panara in the luggage. So that nothing happens."
You know what? I could
actually believe that there's some substance to this, based on the way it is recalled, the "let's stick him in the luggage!" jokes, etc. I'm not saying it did or didn't, I obviously would have no way of knowing. However, the way it's presented, it absolutely, 110% smacks of a hit piece.
