Wonder how long he'll be out.

If it's too long, might as well start selling now.

Hopefully only a week or two.

If so, that's just a little more time for Lafreniere to get some big minutes.

With Kakko and Panarin gone at least two weeks, we should get a look at Gauthier more too.

So what this piece of shit Nazarov is saying is that he "withheld" an assault on an 18 year old girl and only felt compelled to speak out when an athlete spoke out against a dictator who has a massive history of human rights violations?

Sure. Makes total sense.

Exactly, he's making himself look even worse

Because this is a nothing story in Russia. In NA, beating up a girl has a different stigma compared to Russia. Obviously Nazarov was probably also protecting one of his players at the time.

So nazarov says that panarin bribed the police and the “victim” 40k so that charges weren’t filed if I’m understanding this correctly.

so there’s zero record of this actually happening. All Putin needs is some dirt poor actress to step forward and pretend this happened no?

this is bullshit. Clear as day

Yeah 40k...he had no money then..total bs

Fitting this comes out on the 41st anniversary of the Miracle on Ice. Hopefully it’s a sign he’s gonna play for the USA at next year’s Olympics:sarcasm:

As of right now, I won’t believe these allegations because of their source.

But I also believe that this leave was not voluntary for Panarin and the NYR forced it so they could run an independent investigation.

I’ve never been a fan of Nazarov, but if this really happened, this wouldn’t look good for Panarin. It’s quite pathetic though to hide behind the support of an opposition politician, but apparently it’s the best way to save face now for Panarin (if the allegations are true of course).

I am surprised that the original article hasn’t been translated yet. The alleged act of violence occurred in the EU (Riga, Latvia), not Russia. Local police, supposedly, was on site, so the records should be easily checked, I presume.

Typical russian BS. Panarin shouldn't have left the team imo.

Some things are more important than sports. I'm extremely skeptical this is anything more than cooked up political BS, but whatever he needs to do personally is what he should do right now.

He has been extremely brave in his outspokenness against a vindictive dictator. Given Navalny's increased success in motivating the opposition, even more so. He is one of the only high-profile Russian athletes that consistently speaks out against this regime. Meanwhile, others like Kovalchuck, Ovechkin, etc. are butt buddies with Putin and never get any pushback for their despicable positioning.
