I doubt there is any reason for Putin himself to be upset about it. Someone close to him or in other ways liking him might be upset. This is probably the point @ViD was trying to make.

That said, when the political situation in Russia is such that someone close to Putin or liking him gets upset about Panarin, what's the difference? It's still a politically motivated smear job.

I think the main concern of course is that if Putin is involved in any way, Panarin would be worried about his family. That's probably where the LOA comes in.

Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if that's not the case. Russia is definitely a Putin autocracy but people tend to have a cartoonish view of those sorts of places. You don't have guys with rifles following you around like in Rocky IV. Putin isn't concerned with a regular person's daily activity. It's more in the form of state violence against protests, making examples of prominent enemies, and things of that nature.

Now, does Panarin qualify as making an example of someone? Really wouldn't know.

But I'm learning more towards this being Nazarov's doing for political reasons.

The statement is fantastic. If the woman who this happened to was the one to come out and say it, would be a completely different story. Clearly an ax to grind with Panarin.

The reason Artemi is so good in addition to his obvious skills is his emotions. He has passion. This in my opinion is a false politically motivated attack. Wasnt the issue. Issue is, you find out that your worker was in a gang for example. Now, there is a huge difference, if he was in a gang last summer, or he was there a decade ago right? And if you know, he ceased any criminal activity 10 years ago, you would probably leave him at his job.

Otherwise, you have a situation, where if you have done anything wrong in the past, it doesn't matter if you corrected your behaviour, you are still tainted. In this case, why should one correct the wrong behaviour at all?
