I know more than enough about the current state of affairs in Russia.

The whole Navalny story is losing any heat, there’s no more protests about it, the last thing Putin needs to do is ignite this by creating a political hit on one of the most popular Russian hockey players.

It’s simply Nazarov talking out of his ass and nothing more

Run along now, Vladdy is calling.

To be honest, I'm surprised his family is still in Russia. Panarin's anti-Putin stuff isn't all that new. You'd imagine they knew something like this would be coming there way.
Well, there are 144 million people in Russia. I'm sure many of them are anti-Putin and he doesn't have the time of day to be arsed about all of them. So when Russian posters say things are somewhat exaggerated, I get it. You're not gonna have Putin reading your personal emails.

That said, given that Putin is a big hockey guy, I do think Panarin is relevant enough to ruffle his feathers.

First of all, Brooksie needs to get the facts straight before calling it a “political hit”.

Nazarov said this alleged incident happened in Riga, Latvia, and it is not even in Russia.

Secondly, there’s zero need for any kind of retribution because Navalny is not popular among Russians despite how it’s portrayed in the western media.

Disagree, he is pretty popular, depending on how you define popular of course. Navalny has no chance against Putin in elections, but he has a rather big following.

some of you have really questionable attitudes towards the potential victimhood in this circumstance.

this seems questionable from a purely political perspective but some of you speak as if russia/lativa/the CIS bloc have no domestic violence victims and everyone that lives there cannot be trusted. If Panarin did this (absolutely huge if), will there be a rallying cry that his alleged victim is a liar or a putin crony?

Again, how would it even be proven that he "did" this, at this point? Does someone have video? Yes, absent some pretty remarkable circumstances - which could exist, no doubt - it seems extremely likely that anyone dragged out of hiding to testify to the Russian media is probably a liar or Putin crony.

Some of you have really questionable attitudes towards potential guilt. There is a reason that things are less and less credible the more time has passed. If it's a power structure that is suppressing them from being revealed, Panarin is more powerful now than ever. Something else changed that made it easy or convenient for this to be brought to light.

I am not defending Putin LMAO, some westerners here are exxagarating, I am the one who is reasonable and has facts))
Dude you haven’t said anything lol

Aside from your general statements about people not knowing how Russia works, the only fact you’ve spit is that you punched a girl when you were younger

It would really be the icing on the cake if just ONE Russian star like Malkin or OV (even though he probably would never) to publically come out in support of him.

Or maybe that would be a dumb move on their part.
Doubt it considering y'know.

I doubt there is any reason for Putin himself to be upset about it. Someone close to him or in other ways liking him might be upset. This is probably the point @ViD was trying to make.

That said, when the political situation in Russia is such that someone close to Putin or liking him gets upset about Panarin, what's the difference? It's still a politically motivated smear job.

Zib drinks the tonic and comes down with gigantism?

“Jack Johnson seems to have vanished off the face of the earth.”

No joke, I could see Lindgren getting stuck rescuing a woman’s possessions out of a house fire.

Also that is a BOLD statement from the Rangers and Panarin. Hopefully he’s making arrangements to try and have his family get out of the country, or at the very least safe.

So now we have Chytil out, zbad is an empty vessel, and Strome can’t be carried by bread. Howden our 1C?

In his defense, Strome has recently looked good without Panarin.

In any case, hopefully Panarin can get this sorted out so that he and his family can stay safe.

Nazarov has been targeting Panarin for some time now.

For those wondering why Panarin hasn't moved his family to the U.S., immigration law is very difficult, never mind the feelings of his family members who have grown up and lived in Russia for their entire lives. With this, perhaps there is now a case for asylum, however it is a complicated situation to say the least and we do not really want to get into domestic politics.

He is leaving to ensure his family is safe and probably get them out of dodge.

I think if this was a normal season with fans or this was a 1st place team.. it would be a much different situation and he wouldn't have even left. We always knew how he felt about the bubble and this season.

This type of stance by the Rangers is impressive however what this also leads me to believe is that they knew this was coming. You don't hear about this article and then two hours later put out that type of statement. They've done their due diligence.

I'm sure they've been preparing for something like this as soon as they realized signing Panarin was an option for them.
