Yes. Just when everyone pretty much agreed that ZZM was the last Russian line with crazy Soviet-style combinational chemistry, they come. A treat to watch.

I know - they know exactly where their partners are at any moment. Wonderful to watch.

REALLY hoping the Canes can find a way to get Dadonov back over here while we still hold his rights.

As far as I know he has 2 years left on his SKA contract. And not sure if I'm correct, but he can buy out only the last year of his contract. So the next season he'll definitely spend on SKA.

Yeah I had heard about him having 2 years left on his deal. Would be curious to hear if it has any kind of NHL out clause or not like some seem to. Somehow I doubt it though, since he really took off developmentally after heading back over to the KHL.

Unfortunately if you break these guys up each of their effectiveness decreases by half. Wish Panarin would have stayed. I like and agree with the post above about best soviet styled line since ZZM. Soviets used to practise/play in units of 5, some combinations lasted for many years which created some of the most effective chemistry hockey has ever seen. This notion of chemistry is long forgotten in NA hockey, refreshing to see these guys.
Wonder who SKA has slotted to take Panarin's spot this upcoming year? Kadeikin, Shmelyov would be interesting options.

He actually wasn't that impressive before he moved to SKA. He was good, but not anything special. So Carolina didn't want him, and he signed pretty lengthy contract with SKA.

And considering his age, I think this season is just a fluctuation. But he still can be an effective 2nd-3rd liner in the NHL, which isn't bad at all.

I guess his problem is that he didn't had enough confidence or didn't develop well enough to be a real top 6 NHL winger (as you said, this year is his first on a great level), and a small finesse winger isn't a great fit for most 3rd lines.

Funny enough but that's exactly what we need right now, some skill for our 3rd line or a final 2nd liner. Our top 6, at least on paper, should be alright with Semin, the Staal bros, Skinner, and Lindholm. Dadonov's competition for the last top 6 slot would be Rask and Nestrasil as it stands right now. If we were to sign a 2nd line RW we'd be able to roll Dadonov-Rask-Nestrasil as a 3rd line which IMHO would be pretty dang potent.
