If the Oilers have been sandbagging a bit to close out the season and the big guns (minus Ekholm) can come back and handle the grind without being injured I’m not extremely worried as an Oilers fan. It’s been a brutal stretch of injuries and sickness lately and they have weathered the storm about as good as one can hope.

If the guys coming back are more injured than we think and goaltending suspect I’m much more worried as an Oiler fan. This will go 6 or 7 is my guess, it will be a good one!

You’ve watched your team get shit kicked for 3 post seasons in a row and this your A+ analysis?

When the Kings are losing to the Oilers powerplay which happens to be, McDavid being a rover with guys trying to shadow him, then passing it to draisaitl across the ice who's only job is to hover near the right face off dot uncontested. Then yeah that seems to be what kills the Kings who's Pk happened to be near an abysmal 50%.

Now why on earth would I fear the guy who's hovering near the right face off dot over the guy who has players shadowing him and they still can't stop him?

Let's be real. I don't know why you guys get rubbed the wrong way when someone points out that McDavid is the catalyst of the Oilers. He is the only one who can do things in the NHL that no one else can do.

Problem is that I think the Oilers have a handful of key pieces who have pretty clearly been held together by dreams and duct tape this season. The sorts of things that sitting out a couple weeks to end the season isn't going to fix. Even if the Oilers get past LA my fear is still seeing guys like Hyman or McDavid looking like Kane did as the playoffs progressed last year.

You obviously don't know the difference between an excuse and a fact

Kuemper >>> Rittich

If Kuemper exits due to an accidental injury, it will be a short series, explain how it wouldn't???

You really think Rittich is elite?? LOL
I wasn't talking about the goaltending. I agree kuemper is solid. Trust me I wanted him for the Oilers when he was available

I am not confident the Oilers can win this series with their injury woes. I hope they do, but not the favourite in my eyes.
The only injury we should have is ekholm. Now how healthy the other guys are will be a mystery

So, all the other guys go from being out to 100% healthy? We have had as many as 8 regular players out for much of the last quarter of the season. Very banged up, and unless the Oilers have become an NBA team and working on "load management", the guys that are hurt will be healthy enough to play, but not at their best. j

We should still have a good chance against LA, but no necessarily as the favourite.

Frankly I'm shocked a majority here vote the Kings to win it. Kings will struggle to score and the Oilers will light the lamp on the power play, same as every year.
There are so many differences between this Kings team and the slouches that were bounced the last two years.

The Kings are bigger, faster, deeper, younger, tougher AND more Cup experienced with a much more aggressive style, better goaltending and PK. Their defense are so much better at moving the puck up ice than the group whose Plan A and B was to just chip up and out.

They have three lines all capable of defensive matchups, cycling on the forecheck AND stretching the defense for outnumbered attacks. They don't have a midget 4th line getting bounced around and intimidated anymore.

The Kings have the 6th best record in the league for a reason.

This series is the California rolls vs. the Donairs.

I'm firmly on the donair team on that one. A related factor is that I'm originally from Arizona where burritos are a dime a dozen out there. Now that I'm in Florida a good burrito is hard to come by, and I usually have to make one myself if I want it to be any good.

I have to go with McDavid. I mean, you'd think he has to win the cup right? He is 28. Would be shocking to me if he is cupless at 30 years old. Totally shocked. Oilers in 6 or 7.
Plenty of great players didn't break through the hump until later in their careers, or at all. Stevie Y and Ovi both didn't get one until age 32, Selanne 36, Ray Bourque 40 etc. Then there's guys like Jumbo Joe who came close but never pushed all the way through. McDavid is obviously a level above all of these guys but even then only so much one guy (or two in this case cause of Drai) can do.
