Ok, one one hand - Michkov and Fedotov; on the other hand, WHAT, this is so random.

Article mentions him being part of development of European players and being consultant of scouting department. More players from KHL incoming?

I could not for the life of me find a source, Latvian media are saying ''Flyers website'', but best I could find was this:

Isn't that the guy who got suspended for threatening the Swedish bench a bunch of years back?

Same.

The Flyers have been poor in finding players from Europe, which goes back to before Hextall, and was something Chuck was trying to address.

One thing we never saw or heard was when KHL free agents were hot tickets, the Flyers were never apart of the mix, for a franchise that’s supposed to be a destination and trying to be in on everybody.

Now more than ever should the Flyers be dipping into Russia. It's a shame Pautov was our only pick this year.

Take advantage of the current Russian stigma, take advantage of our good Russian relations with SKA/Michkov + whatever relations helped get Fedotov over, and find some hidden gems.

I agree that Flyers have not seemed like the team to capitalize on prospects from Europe (and particularly Russia). It's crazy that I am a fan of this team for 15 years or so and our best Russian within this time frame has been who? Bryz? (Bob doesn't count, I'm counting only performances as a Flyer). This is the moment we should poach Russians for sure; the only ones staying there in KHL will soon be (or already are) only those w low ambition/home-sick/regime supporters. As for the latter, yeah, those can stay there, I don't want another Provorov, thanks.

Berglund - Sweden
Rouhonen - Finland
Pautov - Russia

Michkov - Russia
Zavragin - Russia
Ciernak - Slovakia

Before these two drafts
2022: Sulku - Finland
2021: Tuomaala - Finland, Kolosov - Belarus, Zanetti - Switzerland
2020: none
2019: Serdyuk - Russia
2018: Ersson - Sweden, Westfalt - Sweden
2017: Ustimenko - Belarus, Sushko - Belarus
2016: Rubtsov - Russia, Hogberg - Sweden
2015: Provorov - Russia, Sandstrom - Sweden, Tomek - Czech, Vorobyev - Russia, Kase - Czech, Fedotov - Russia
2014: Lindblom -Sweden, Fazleyev - Russia, Pettersson - Sweden

There's some other changes in the scouting department or at least changes I haven't noticed before. Reid Simpson is the director of Euro Pro scouting? Some of the older farts have been let go but don't worry Dennis Patterson is still there. They have 23 scouts overall...

The problem with bringing more Russians is that they don't speak Murican. Finding translators in 2024 is damn near impossible. Plus they're probably spies anyway.

Tell me about it. No one speaks Russian in the Pacific Northwest either. I have to go to a Mexican cartel for a translator to communicate with my lady. Or that’s what deady said ….

You're dealing Fentanyl for the Mexican cartels, who get their supplies from China?

Russians are no different than anybody else. Players want to play in the best league - NHL.

The only difference is the KHL offers a lucrative alternative to the AHL, and/or offers more security for older players who risk being sent down and up.
The risk isn't getting players to North America, it's keeping players in NA. This has always been the case.

There is for sure a thing that Russians can feel uncomfortable in the USA. I think its about cultural socialisation. When you hear only bad things about the USA your whole life, it can be very difficult to let this things behind you. The way of living is very different from the living in Russia.

I dont want to judge anyones way. But i think its fair to say its a clash of culture!

If you build a support System for Russian players in your Community it can work wonders in my eyes! However this would be done; it could work!

In my eyes.

But i dont think the flyers are the Franchise to envision such a thing!

Its more like:

Znaroks is a badass and we need him onboard!

This quote actually depicts a cultural socialization on your behalf, if you truly think its why Russian hockey players may struggle to adapt.

Any potential adaptation problems aren't predicated on "the USA is evil!" opinions, USA is just a cultural extension of Western Europe, which can be very different from Russian culture.
Nothing more/less
