What a weird ass article

Also means young franchises can't have fans over 35ish wearing any lettered jerseys

Hear that Vegas? Sell nothing but blanks.

Yeah, it is tough for new franchises. When the jersey craze first started I always told people you can never go wrong with a classic, so get a Vachon or Dionne jersey.

Obviously, if you have a favorite player go ahead and get their jersey, but it's buyer beware. I knew someone who got an O'Sullivan jersey. Three months later he was traded.

I don't think there is anything wrong with wearing a jersey of a player younger than you. With that being said, I think for fans that saw Dionne or Vachon, they might prefer those players jerseys over the "new guys". Same with fans that saw Gretzky and Luc, or Deader and Palffy. And then those that wear the Kopitars, Doughtys, Quicks of this current incarnation of the Kings will probably prefer those over the future stars of the team.

I love the current players, and I'm grateful for the 2 cups, but I'd still prefer a Palffy/Potvin/Deader/Lappy/Norstrom/Gretzky jersey over a Kopi/Doughty/Quick.

Its all just personal preference for everyone anyway.

But like Kings17 said, you can never go wrong with a classic.

I mean, if I'm wearing someone's Jersey because I look up to them as a hero and want to be like them when I grow up, sure - the practice is silly once you're not a kid anymore. I wear someone's jersey because they play for my team, and there's something I liked about how that player played - or maybe even something they did off the ice / court / field.

Truth be told, I didn't bother to read the article because it seems to be one of many countless things I don't give a shit about - a luxury of growing older.

I dunno, I love this guy.

Truth be told, I stopped with buying hockey jerseys as that Richards one in 2012 was the last I had purchased. I have won a few at stags since then but, they go tucked away in a closet somewhere never to be displayed.

Have some soccer ones I bought as more of a collectors item due to Croatia advancing to the World Cup Final last summer. Nice to have those as mementos as they display a players name and number along with the appropriate patches and match tags on the chest of the opponent for that specific date/game.

During the early part of my STHer days in my early 20s, I didn't wear jerseys because I cared more about looking cool. By the mid-to-late 20s, it was a jersey to every game but it was older players like Zmolek and Matt Johnson.

I continued that after 2012 by getting a Baumgartner jersey but eventually started nabbing a bunch of guys from the Cup teams after 2014: especially when all the Reebok replicas were on clearance. I have Stoll/Toffoli/Greene/Nolan/Brown in the Reebok sweaters plus a Richards I got as a gift in 2011. The only Adidas one I have is a MacDermid which I picked up on a real good sale at the end of the 2018 season.

I still don't generally wear any of the current players and will lean Greene/Nolan if wearing a Reebok one, although the MacDermid was in heavy rotation at the end of last season. I have a pro blank 1998 home and a 2001 home that I need to get Laperrier and Grimson on, respectively. Also have a blank 2015 gold 3rd but not sure who to get on that one. Regher or Clifford probably.

Long story short, it does feel a bit strange as a grown man wearing the jersey of someone who is 12-13 years younger than you like MacDermid but doesn't feel strange to wear a Zmolek one except for if Ziggy gives me the stink eye for owning one. There is also the bonus of not worrying if the guy gets traded a week after you get the jersey v. just going with a guy from the past.

At the end of the day, it's like David Puddy says: "Got to support the team."

I ain't that old. I've just been here a long time.

And I'm cranky.

Yeah, I've had to start going retro with my jersey selections. Cup winning team? Cool. Otherwise, it does feel kinda weird.

Sorry BK, love ya man but I once saw you at a game (assuming no one else owns a Zmolek jersey) and told my buddy "What kind of loser would buy a Zmolek jersey"

With more age and wisdom I actually think it's pretty cool to see someone with a jersey like that. Theres a guy I've seen at the games in Chicago who has a Pat Conacher jersey.

As for the original post, it's the most boring time of the year in sports. No news to commentate on so it's stuff like this. Sometimes it's good to talk about stuff like this in late July into August rather than write an article like the one from JTFC.

Haha. I'm thinking about having an "A" put on it since he apparently wore one for at least one game per a YouTube clip.

I loved the guy's heart.

I'm stupid though. I don't like having the same jersey as everyone else. I still drive a Saab and am looking at Alfa Romeo Giulias since they aren't as common as everything else. Smart buy? Probably not. Either is a MacDermid jersey in April of 2018 when he hasn't been on the team for two months and you aren't sure he'll clear waivers next off-season.

Yeah... I don't make the best decisions. I've seen maybe two other Zmolek jerseys. I was very excited.

I tend to stick to players from the 92-93 era. Have a Chevy Tocchet jersey and a Burger King Gretzky. A few years ago I had the choice between a Richards or a Carter and I chose a Carter, think I've worn it once. I think being a Kings fan has mostly been painful and nothing shows you have endured those years of pain than by wearing an older era jersey. I know it's not a logical argument since anybody can buy any era jersey but I'd rather own a 92-93 era jersey without a doubt. The Tocchet jersey gets more compliments than the Gretzky Burger King.

When you see someone wearing a non-star player from pretty much any era prior to the Cups, it's a good bet they've been through some shit.

Like, Zmolek isn't an accident. You have to special order that and know who he is. Like, you were here for the Tocchet era? This guy knows what's up.

I rolled my eyes so hard at the mere thought of someone spending time writing an article on the subject that I think I might have turned into a 13 year old girl.

There are other signs too, so either I'm right about the transformation or I really need to call an ambulance.

i'm all about driving something different but dude you don't want those problems. it's hard enough sometimes finding parts for my 86/00 toyotas sometimes, imagine how hard it'll be finding alfa parts in 10 years. even dumb small bits turn into huge fiascos

i appreciate their reentry into the US market but no no no no

I know man! It all seems like a bad idea but they look so good though.
