I'm going to guess around 6 years at 6.5 mil. I think that keeps him at RFA status for his next contract, but others will know for sure. Now that it sounds like Dahlin is done at 10x8, what do we think Power's contract looks like? 7x8? 8x8? 6x3?

Either 3x$6.5M or 8x$8.5M sounds most realistic to me.Now that it sounds like Dahlin is done at 10x8, what do we think Power's contract looks like? 7x8? 8x8? 6x3?
Well damn, he'll be a UFA at 24, 25?Anything more than 3 years he will be a UFA at the end of it
Burning that first year made it the same as Dahlin playing at 18. Dahlin could be a UFA in two seasons at 25 if he wanted to be too.Well damn, he'll be a UFA at 24, 25?
From KA's perspective, I would rather go the latter route also. He could probably get Power at around 6-7 mil at 6-8 years now. After a 3 year bridge...more like 10 mil per.Burning that first year made it the same as Dahlin playing at 18. Dahlin could be a UFA in two seasons at 25 if he wanted to be too.
It’s why pinning down term on Power is so tricky. With Dahlin he’s one year from UFA so you want to go as long as you can. With Power…there is benefit to 3 year bridge deals (and danger as we saw with Tkachuk and Reinhart and DuBois/DeBriknkcat now). But the player can look at a 7 or 8 year deal and get to UFA again at 28/29…which means…giant payday #2. I would want the latter option if it were me. Hand me that 56-64 million guaranteed and I will become a UFA at 28 And cash in even more? All day long on that one. But players want different things.
I don't see why Power should want to do an extension this year. Feels like he could get a better deal if he plays out next year and develops the way we hope he will. He bets on himself, then signs the deal when he actually hits RFA...it's just hard to see what he gains by doing it this year. Now that it sounds like Dahlin is done at 10x8, what do we think Power's contract looks like? 7x8? 8x8? 6x3?
He is a 10.2c next year which means RFA means even less - he is not eligible for an offer sheet. Only Sabres can negotiate with himI don't see why Power should want to do an extension this year. Right, but he still has no extra incentive to get the deal done this offseason when his ELC still has a year left on it, unless the Sabres overpay. He can play out the ELC, and if he has a good year, conceivably put himself in position to ask for more money from the Sabres. The only reasons to sign a long-term deal this offseason would be if he's afraid of injury, or doesn't think he'll reach his potential (because the Sabres have no reason to give him a high AAV right now).He is a 10.2c next year which means RFA means even less - he is not eligible for an offer sheet. What is a 10.2(c) player?
A player becomes a free agent when their contract expires on July 1 after the last League Year of their contract. A player who does not meet the UFA requirements or the Group 2 RFA requirements displayed in the table above, and has been issued a qualifying offer, is designated a 10.2(c) player. The player is only eligible to negotiate and sign a contract with the club that holds their signing rights. They are ineligible to negotiate a contract (offer sheet) with any other club. They are also ineligible for arbitration. If the player does not receive a qualifying offer by June 25th at 5:00pm ET, they immediately become a UFA.
The security of being offered $60M+ at age 20 in a sport where your career can end at any moment is a tough thing to walk away from.I don't see why Power should want to do an extension this year. He's in Nashville - he probly just had a late night last night lolNot sure if he's sick or he's been having darts and broken glass for breakfast this summer. I'll go with the latter and expect him to come out playing like Pronger in October.
Haha of course. Honestly even that would be encouraging to me that he's on the path to greater ruggedness. The modern NHL youngster does not party like they used to.He's in Nashville - he probly just had a late night last night lol
He’s already a vet interviewer - says a lot without actually saying anything
