I'd rather have him play big minutes in a winning environment than small to moderate minutes in Buffalo. It's not likely this team is going to be anywhere near a Stanley Cup next season with or without his services anyways.

If Michigan makes it to the Frozen Four, the Sabres have 11 games after it is scheduled to take place. Assume it takes a few days to get him into the lineup, he’d still get a solid 9 or 10 game taste.

If he plays 9 or less, does his contract slide? I'd also want him to play for the Amerks if they make the playoffs.

So how many years does he need to play at UM to become a UFA?

he’d need to put off signing his first real (post elc) contract until he was 25 risking injury all the way. Or he could burn the first year by signing at the end of the season and get it at 21.

I know he’s not going to Harvard but…

Will fix everything
Are you nervous now, because he's starting his 2nd year with Big Blue?

edit: And for all we know, the decision to return was mutual.

No, I'm fine with him going back for 1 year. If he goes back for a 2nd year (his junior year) when we have a clear roster spot for him and can give him a max rookie contract, then yes.

Such overblown teeth-gnashing from TSN about the Sabres... as usual.

No issue with Power going back to Big Blue. I for one am going to be finding a way to watch as many of their games as possible which is the first time in a long time I've wanted to tune in to a particular NA hockey team.

I don't think I've ever really watched college hockey, however I am going to try and watch every game too.

Sabres' 1OA pick - Check

Starting goaltender a Sabres prospect - Check

Team stacked overall - Check

Between that and Dahlin, Cozens, Mitts, and even Olofsson on the Sabres, I think there should be plenty of things of interest to pay attention to from a development standpoint while we go on our way to adding another top player to our pipeline of youth.

Roch warrants some decent interest as well.

It's a unique year for prospects. There was a lost year of development due to covid. It's also a unique opportunity for those Michigan players to go for a championship on that stacked team.

With the multiple Sabre-centric prospects over the years, I've watched a lot of Gophers over the last decade and in the last few years a chunk of Badgers, SCS Huskies and UND. (As an aside, if we ever get back to some level of normal, the North Dakota fans travel so very well and are fun to sit with during a game.)
