There is no video (that I'm aware of) of Gordie Howe tying Rocket Richard for 544 NHL goals early in the 1963-64 season.

However, I know that Howe's parents were flown in from Saskatchewan to see the game in person when he scored the 545. It was the first time Howe's parents had attended one of his NHL games in person.

I checked Stubhub during the third period and tickets were selling for $250. Now they are selling for $1000+ each (Canadian).

Imagine they scratch him for "load management" because they want him to break it at home.
Yea that is what I am afraid of, I got my tickets at $130 a few weeks ago, I am half expecting Ovi not to play or just not shoot it if he does just to break the record at home

Any previous instances of a team in the playoff hunt having their fans actively cheering against them at home?

The most incredible thing to me through this entire run the last few years is the roar of the road crowds every time he scores. Ovi transcends the game.

I'm absolutely sure that this has already been commented on, but Wow, he could break the record on the same number of games that Gretzky set the record, 1487 games. That's incredible.

OK, now I checked, and of course it's been mentioned, Haha.

But Gretzky did it in less games at a point in the past (less games). Serious response. That's not the important mark, in my opinion. Gretzky went scoreless in x games (8?) before retiring.

Have to remember that Ovi was leading the NHL in goals and was rolling when he got injured. No telling how many he would have scored had he stayed healthy. Just incredible that he bounced back from a broken leg during the season and still managed to get 40+ goals, and at his age.
Yup, he had scored a goal in 5 straight periods when he got hurt.

Yes. What was the last game that Gretzky scored a goal in? Assuming that he didn't score a goal in his last game. How many games did it take him to reach 894?

IMO he would've won the Rocket. Unfortunate that we missed out on that

Yes, I think I've seen it posted on this site before. Gretzky went scoreless towards the end of his career for a couple handful of games. I'll look it up.

I know when he scored his final goal, but I don't know how many games he played after that.
