How can anyone hate on this guy is beyond me
Have to remember that Ovi was leading the NHL in goals and was rolling when he got injured. No telling how many he would have scored had he stayed healthy. Just incredible that he bounced back from a broken leg during the season and still managed to get 40+ goals, and at his age.Ovi scored 41 goals in 60 games and missed 16 games this season.
I wonder does he score 50 goals this season if there was no injury?
Epic thread. The guy did it! The first half of last season was a snooze but once he got back on track he's been the best goal scorer in the world, at 38-39 years old, what the hell!
Three assholes.Wayne looks super happy about the whole thing, or looks like a serial killer.

If you had told me Ovechkin would match Gretzky's career total, I would have been SURE he took at least 100 extra games to get there. The fact that he's played 1 less game in his career than Gretzky did in his AND matched his career game total is absolutely bonkers.
In fairness, Wayne is probably shitfaced as usual and doesn’t even know where he is atWayne looks super happy about the whole thing, or looks like a serial killer.

Ovie’s current season is one of the most epic in the history of the league. Doing what he is doing, at this age, with this much history on the line, is unheard of.
Glad I lived to see this. Gretzky was a god, and seeing someone eclipse him is unthinkable in the very best way.
And he's doing it playing for the best team in the Eastern Conference and scoring a lot of big goals and points along the way.
Better than doing all this on a team like... say... Pittsburgh, who has nothing to play for except padding some stats.
This is not a thread to discuss Ovechkin's political positions. This is your warning.
From Rick Nash winning the Rocket with 41 goals to Jamie Benn winning the Art Ross with 87 pointsThis speaks to how myopic a lot of fans were during 2008-2017 era. Lots of HF threads arguing that low scoring meant the players were “better” and it was impossible for anyone to hit scoring records in such a high quality environment (as opposed to it being a matter of talent shortage).
