It's also pretty crazy that Wayne missed half a season cause of the 94-95 lockout and and Ovi missed a full season and a half because of the 2004-05 complete lockout and the 2012-13 half a season lockout.

Alex probably gets to 1000 goals if that doesn't happen, something that would be hard to imagine seeing anyone ever do.

If OV decides to keep playing he should get to 1000 pretty easily. He's still a top tier sniper. I think he's 7th this year despite missing a bunch of games.

He is actually 3'd with 39 goals. And he missed 16 games this season.

Alex Ovechkin converted on a two-man advantage during the final minute of the second period to record his 892nd career goal and move within three of passing Wayne Gretzky (894) for the most in NHL history. Ovechkin’s 0.66 goals-per-game average this season and 0.60 rate in his career both put him on pace to complete The Gr8 Chase against the Blue Jackets on April 13 (6 p.m. ET on SNE, MNMT, FDSNOH).

Of all the NHL records, I always ranked the all-time goal scoring one among the most untouchable. The thought of someone (especially in the modern era) being able to average 45 goals per season for 20 years was just unfathomable. It’s left me with the feeling that no record is truly unbreakable.
