People love to say he’s just a one trick pony, but I’ve seen plenty of goals this year that haven’t been from his office and he’s tied for 15th in points per game in the entire NHL at 39 years old. He’s also tied for 3rd in the league in goals, despite breaking his leg at 39 years old, and 2nd in the NHL in goals per game.

Basically, he’s a f***ing maniac.

It’s probably the only event in NHL history that home fans would be cheering for the opposition player. I’d love if he did it to my team so I could see it in person. Once in a lifetime.

One or two goals tonight and Friday night will be an intense and loud atmosphere against Chicago if he goes into that game at 892 or 893.

Crazy to think of the ground that Ovechkin had to make up on Gretzky in his 30s.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I'm still more of the mindset that the overall goal scoring record - regular season + playoffs - is the most important one.

Ovechkin's at 963 goals. Gretzky scored 1,016. He's still 53 goals shy of that, but I wouldn't bet against Ovechkin getting that one in due time, either.

I disagree.

Making the playoffs is a team aspect of the game. Consider it a bonus.

Not everyone gets a bonus.

Sid is about to miss the playoffs for three straight seasons yet you can't fault him one bit.

Why should that be held against him?
