I'm as psyched as anyone to see Ovechkin back on track... but is anyone else worried he's rushing back and could leave himself vulnerable to re-injury?

Not worried about that, the medical staff won’t clear him to return unless they know he’s 100% ready.

He could afford to cut corners with his health when he was 25, not so much at 39. Any major injury like ACL tears would be career ending at his age.

Amazing recovery at his age. Also amazing that the Caps lost the NHL goals leader yet are tied for most pts in the East, with three games in hand on the team they're tied with. Also best diff in the NHL. Talk about holding down the fort when your captain goes down!

Stoked for Ovi's return. No need to rush things the way the Caps are playing.

I think we see him skating with the puck and doing drills this week.

Looking at the schedule, coming back on the 28th might make sense. They have a 5 day break before that. The original outlook was 4-6 weeks. The 28th would be 5 weeks and 5 days. That would mean he missed 15 games.
Today is the 3 week mark, we all know OV isn't staying out any longer than he has to, it'll be interesting when he starts practicing w/team w/no contact jersey

Mon, Dec 16 @ Dallas 8:00 PM (4 week mark)
Tue, Dec 17 @ Chicago 8:30 PM
Fri, Dec 20 vs Carolina 7:00 PM
Sun, Dec 22 vs Los Angeles 5:00 PM
Mon, Dec 23 @ Boston 7:00 PM (5 weeks)
Sat, Dec 28 @ Toronto 7:00 PM
Sun, Dec 29 @ Detroit 5:00 PM
Tue, Dec 31 vs Boston 12:30 PM

I disagree. I think he'll come back sooner than that. I predict they will try to get him back on the ice more in the 4 week side of that original estimate versus the 6 week side. Whether that's the wise move is not my call, but in the past he seems to always come back a little earlier than expected.

They have access to so many things for recovery that it doesn't surprise me

Would be really cool if he missed that much games but still managed to get both Rocket and a record at this age. So far competition doesn’t look that challenging (though last games Matthews looks like he’s back).

That would be very Ovi-like, actually.
Do not think this is outside the realm of possibility. Caps are really good this year.
