What would you guys think of an Oilers/ Islanders outdoor game? Its an idea thrown out there on HFOil and I know most would rather the Rangers or Flyers, but I think it would be cool idea. 2 young teams and the 2 last dynasties for the old timers game. Thoughts? :)

I think it would be an excellent idea. Problem is, from a TV perspective no one except Isles and Oiler fans will care. :(

I dont think it matters that much, because LA vs Anaheim is happening and a lot of kings fans think that it will mostly be seen by californians. Its just a money grab for the NHL and I think this would be an awesome matchup as I love both teams : )

Well it would certainly be one of the best looking games from a jersey perspective. Wait 3 more years though and both teams should be playoff level.

This is a great idea for about 2015-16, provided the teams continue on upward trajectories, and are both Cup contenders. Right now it just wouldn't have the juice the NHL would want for a marquee outdoor event.

Why not have a Dynasty Classic. Celebrate the past and future with the teams on the rise. Even if not for national television, it would be great for both, over a period of time each team gets to host a game.

In 2 years, it would be great imo.

Agree from an entertainment perspective, but disagree from a TV programming perspective.

You will never see Edmonton in a marquee US event like the winter classic. To be honest I'm shocked they planned one with Toronto.

They will always want marquee cities that casual non-hockey fans have heard of. Most Americans have never heard of Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa or Winterpeg.

Maybe the Canadian heritage classic would work if the Isles are a top team, but CBC will always want two Canadian teams.

It'd be pretty hard to call something a "Dynasty Classic" and not have the Canadiens involved.
