Oof I’m not so sure about that one for the Jackets. Unless it’s a 9 game stint, they aren’t really in a position to be forcing young guys in a bad lineup like that.

Right. Because they are starting the season in the NHL means they're destined for greatness as opposed to all the others who won't make their NHL team from their draft class.

Lapierre probably gets sent down once Backstrom is available anyway. Mercer, I don't know. But he's always been a safe pick. The kind of player who can reach the NHL quickly but not as a standout player.

not unless the NYR give him permission since he's under contract with them. If he did he could get banned by the IIHF, though with Russia I don't know if they would even care.
