And Reinbacher might be in the same tier. Certainly Carlsson is not any better. And as fragile as a china doll.
He wasn't in the same tier at the draft, which is the whole point.

If you reach and make a mistake it isn't the same as if you pick Carlsson over Michkov when these two were basically neck to neck in the rankings.

If Will Smith fell to #5 and the Habs picked him instead of Michkov no one would be mad.

If Michkov is a 90 point player or more it's absolutely deserved to be brought up a billion more times. Especially after the laughable takes on here about him to try and justify not picking him. I don't really give a shit about the other teams, I care about the Habs. You can't build an elite team by saying, "look, this team also sucks so it's okay".

We haven't had a star forward since Damphousse, forgive fans for being upset about passing up on this type of talent. Also let's not pretend that if he was having a poor rookie year the "where are the Michkovians" and other 1000 posts crapping on him wouldn't appear.

You may enjoy reading the same boring shit over and over multiple times every day about a single players, but I've always enjoyed when OOT thread was about the other 31 teams. How many variations of "omg we passed on this player" before it becomes a slog ? Billions for you, a few billion less for me. But that's just me.

There were already hundreds for when he got scratched in the KHL where the term "Michkovian" appeared, so it definitely is a lot of people that were eagerly hoping he'd be a flop.

Hundreds would be the equivalent of 4~5 pages worth of posts in out of town. This is nothing compared to where we are now.

I'm talking about an isolated act, Michkov getting scratched. This Michkov talk gets bumped after each game he produces, which is not an isolated act. It's not even remotely comparable and to pretend that barely anybody would talk about Michkov having a bad rookie year in this scenario is extremely disingenuous. There would be a ton of people talking about it to the point where it would also be "annoying".

I'm still seeing a ton of interesting info I like that doesn't revolve around Michkov in this thread but to each their own.

You know, I really wish him the best, but more and more I'm hoping he would flop just because I wouldn't read every day how much a mistake it was not picking him.

You know, what is funny about all this is that neither Hughes or Gorton or any other Habs scouting staff are on this board, so what's the point really of telling every day how mad you are? Will it change something? "Oh that poster was mad last year on HF board, we sure should make the same mistake!" was never heard at the scouting table I'm quite sure.

That's fine to think that, but you just shouldn't be complaining about any potential mistake ever because you'd be contradicting yourself. Especially when this might end up being one of the worst ones in recent history.

It's a wild what if scenario so we'll never know. We do know Benson was considered as a "one that got away" last year, yet OOT isn't filled with posts violently dunking Benson this year when he struggle. Wright trashing is also sporadic and contained. Michkov talks pop in almost every threads.

In your head
Gorton during the draft video that year said teams only get so many chances to add talent and it's now difficult to add them during UFA.

Said you pretty much have to draft or get lucky to get high end talent these days and sometimes you need to take a chance. Then said but it seems like this room doesn't seem to want to take this chance but he just wanted to make sure they were making the right decision.

Certainly sounds like he was likely talking about Michkov there to me.

Fire them all, the minute I read that they were all unanimous about drafting Reinbacher, I knew we were f***ed. :help:

There were many gleeful comments about Michkov’s benching early in the D+1 year and then again this year when he was rested by Torts for two games. There’s no point bringing it up because it’s just bitter nonsense.

Not one of you nor the esteemed discussion moderators told The user Boss Man Hughes off for calling Michkov a cockroach for months. A teenager, I remind you. Seems like you don’t care about negativity or nastiness at all, you care about a certain kind of negativity.

I understand you guys are exhausted from being reminded that Kent Hughes made a catastrophic mistake but the worst is yet to come if the Habs continue to f*** up the rebuild and continue making awful decisions. Buckle up.

Sorry, but you were pretty much doing the same with Slaf.

That being said, I learned a long time ago not to stress over things I have no control over, as it doesn't give me anything except grief. I've been way better for it. I see some people on here way too invested and obsessed and that can't be good for their health. To each their own, but that's not for me anymore. As for the Michkov vs Reinbaher thing, it is what is for me. I still watch all the games and follow the team year long, but I watch with a different eye. Getting my blood pressure up on a message board won't change things.

Yeah I'm sort of in favor of creating a thread for the Michkov venting/coping.
How I see it, the Michkov / Kotkaniemi type discussion is not really out of town talk even if they are technically playing for other teams, it’s more about rehashing a specific event in Habs history over and over and over (and over) and honestly the constant negativity gets overwhelming.

I felt that since he wasn't a perfect prospect,Slaf's perceived deficiencies would be better developed not in the NHL. I was wrong, the Habs organization thought his deficiencies are best dealt with at the NHL level with constant supervision. Kent Hughes had to have a talk with him and he's still not come back up to par -- he needs a lot of constant attention and work.

I did talk badly about Slaf and get carried away with the purple prose, even calling him an oaf once but I never smeared his family, his native homeland, or insinuated he was connected to drug cartels, war criminals, etc.

You seem to have a lot of fun posting laugh reacts and complaining about what other people post. To each their own.

Like, it would just be so much easier to call a spade a spade, no? People have no problem doing it when Slaf is clearly better than Wright. Now it's all wait and see, we don't know what info they had, it is what it is go touch grass blah blah blah.

It's so weird to try and pretend to not be bothered by something. Just be bothered or not.

Yes, because a lot of the takes on this board are downright hilarious and delirious.

I am not bothered because it is what it is and the fact that we don't know yet what either player will become.

Annoying repetitions on the board:

- Complaining about St-Louis
- Complaining about mediocre players on the team
- Judging the rebuild with very poor analysis disregarding only two drafted players have joined the team
- Complaining about Michkov
- The utter hypocrisy about complaining about the Michkov complainers, when most of those posters would be themselves constantly putting down Michkov if he weren't playing like a superstar, just like many do/did with Wright
- The overall childishness of posters. f***ing grow-up already
