GDT: Our Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Buffalo Sabres, March 2, 2022

The Leafs often play down to their opponents a lot so none of the games this month are going to be easy. Goaltending remains to be the biggest factor here.

Justin Holl has 7 points in his last 4 games, he should be on the #1 pair to help out Rielly who is slumping with only 1 point in the last 4.

Not many people have mentioned that in addition to Tavares, Rielly also had 0 points when the Leafs put up that 10 spot (and a -2)

im not a TL hater or anything , just pointing out one of his deficiencies. We have 7 capable Dmen at the moment and i would definitly play TL over dermott, but if dermott is trade fodder he does need to play some games .......... the other 5 guys are not sitting.

The reason you are seeing this has to do with Timmy getting burned hard earlier in the year with his gap control. It's a learning process. He was burned with too tight of a gap, and so he is over compensating now.

I think this might be myth. I'll admit that I'm not 100% sure but I believe someone posted the numbers a while ago that showed that we've done very well against the bottom feeders. We lose to them now and then and sure it was disappointing to lose to VAN and CLB (the most recent examples) but it happens to all the top teams from time to time.

Agree with everything else. No games are ever easy and every NHL team will beat you if they come to play and you don't. And goaltending is always huge and since it's such a big question mark for us at this point, that's the obvious place to look if we're looking for reasons why we might lose this one.

I'm thrilled that Mrazek gets the start, let the battle for the #1 goalie job begin. May the best man win and whoever the best man is, let's hope he can play well for a couple of months when the time comes.

I’d love to see Robertson up with Tavares and Nylander even if it’s just for one game. Let the kid show what he’s got… Especially against an opponent like Buffalo. But if he’s sticking to the 4th line with Spezza and Simmonds, put the kid on the 2nd powerplay unit and give him at least 10 minutes of game time.

Me too man. If Simmonds is still on unit 2 over him I'm going to be pretty upset. There's no point in having Robertson up if you're only going to give him small minutes 5 on 5 the 2 weakest forwards on the roster.
