Didn't like sitting Liljegren at first but he might need a bit of a break. He's played well but nothing wrong with a rest for a game or two. Keefe throwing Sandin is good besides Rielly. I like him trying everything.

Thats a positive actually. Pretty much that Lilly hasn't been great in 2 games and with him playing a lot, want him to take a break. Also that he earned time on the top pair.

he needs a break .... he needs to be better at stepping up to the opponent and not give them too much space .... he always backs away and gives them to much room...
he will never be a top 4 guy if he cant clean up that part of his game

Damn. Matthews maintenance day against one of his favourite opponents (11 goals in 16 games.)

Thought they'd go back to Campbell, so it's a nice surprise Mrazek is getting the B2B start. He deserves a chance now to show what he's got and see if he can run with the net for a bit.

Regardless of who is in net, I fully expect the Leafs to paste the Sabres. Anything otherwise would be a disappointment to be honest.

There are very few defensemen with just 50 games in total - 37 this year - who don't suffer a lapse here and there. He'll be fine in the long run.

i hope so ... but hes not top 4 right now.
at least 2 times a game he makes a holl type decision in the dzone. ...... and as i mentioned his gap control is horrendous

Also, a little bit of keeping everyone playing and showcased.

that’s not really true at all but sure. I don’t understand why people feel the need to overstate the issues in Liljegren’s game and talk doom and gloom about what he will grow into if he can’t do x and y, when Rasmus Sandin has as many defensive miscues as Lily does and almost no one talks about it. These guys are both young, both relatively inexperienced, and have some issues that come with all the good they are showing in their development that people are just going to have to show some patience regarding if they want either to reach their potential.

Yes they should beat Buffalo easy, but you should know by now not to let logic define who should win. Look at that Detroit game, just imagine if the Wings completed that comeback and won. Sort of like the Sens did last year when we were up 5-1 but lost 6-5 in OT. Just like we couldn't muster up more than one goal against Arizona and lost 2-1 and went into a 5-0 hole against the Habs before trying to fight back only to lose. The majority of the time, the Leafs do win but we only remember those real stinkers against the basement teams worried that it could happen again. Although that is happening to all of the top teams recently. And don't forget that before the Matthews era, we were that basement team that would occasionally beat the top teams.

I disagree, while acknowledging he certainly did back up far too much that last game when ??? scored. I've seen numerous times when he's challenged at the blue line, or directed play to the boards. A break from the game, fine, but I'd send him back in because I find his game is improving weekly. And yes, I'm a fan of TL.

I ain't by mrazek though sire. But yeah Liljegren got hurt and all last nezight.

Mrazek finna brang us to the promised land in the future. Also with the jack. They both finna be aaaight this season again, winning and dirt. But jack gotta chill for real mayne. He gotta get some and play some. Games in the living room I mean first.
This.

If there is one thing the Leafs have shown us it is that in games we expect them to win easily they start asleep and don't always wake up in time to pull it out.

Buffalo blows so hopefully this is not one of those games.

Liljegren will be fine. He's getting better but that doesn't mean he doesn't have holes in his game, as you would expect for someone so young. However, at this point, he is not a top 4 on a contending team. He does have poor gap control off the rush, has difficulty with positioning in front of the goal, and prone to flubbing the puck too many times for my liking. However, he has improved his board work and controlling defenders. His passing is elite. If he works at the parts of the game he has trouble with, he will be a top 4 next season.

That didn't happen Saturday. I think they've been much better this year with starting on time.

A win tonight and we jump over Florida and will be tied with Tampa for 1st in the division....i get that's not really important, but it's funny that they are in that position while the main pages on this site are talking about the Leafs being a trainwreck....

Nobody batted an eye when the Panthers lost 8-2 to the Senators. It didn't even make the news for more than the highlights.

Some people love the Leafs and some people love to hate the Leafs.

March is gimme month for the Leafs. 90% of the teams we play are sub .500 and trash.

Only four games stand out in March:

Mar 17 - Carolina
Mar 19 - Nashville
Mar 27 - Florida
Mat 29 - Boston
