Our defensive core worries me

I believe in good starts and when your top 2 defensemen are hurt to start the season that worries me. It feels like last year when we lost Boychuk we never recovered. I believe in the kids but can they play big minutes. Hopefully we can get a defenceman through the waiver wire or is Sweeney a trade for Buffy or Schenn ?
