I'd try to insert Dewar in there. Matthews should be good to go unless they give him one more game off?

Hakanpaa could be ready as well, but seems likely he'll be in the pressbox for a little bit longer to me.

It's only been 16 games played but we've been extremely stingy defensively 5v5.

This is where we rank in terms of high danger chances against and high danger goals against.

Also factor in that we've played one more game than Utah and three more games than Dallas/Vancouver.

We've never seen anything resembling this in the last few years.

It feels like our defence has always been statistically good in cutting down shots, but the other side got more high dangerous chances. Like the Boston 4-1 game. It comes in waves.

Lotta times we won 3-1, which felt like a dominant game, but the high danger chances were pretty equivalent.

Would love to see for a little stretch:

Knies - Matthews - Robertson
McMann - Tavares - Nylander
Holmberg - Domi - Marner
Lorentz - Kampf - Dewar

Hakanpaa is with the Leafs. I would say these are the lines tomorrow with the placeholders stepping out.

I guess the question, is whether Matthews is back in.... if not, I guess Dewar might slide to the third line? Having said that, if Matthews is still out, I think it's about time to give Steeves an opportunity though, on that third line, and put Dewar on the fourth, with Reaves sitting out...

If it’s merit based, Holmberg comes out for Dewar. Dewar is a better Pker too. Holmberg has been a black hole, at least Robertson provides hustle and energy, not sure what Pontus is bringing except being the guy where plays die.
Definitely if you have to earn your ice time, Holmberg has to sit…….

D wins championships.... I'm liking the direction.

I would guess Domi goes to #1 center, Dewar to 3rd, or maybe 4th with Lorentz getting a bump up if Matthews isn't good to go.

Not sure they'll call-up Steeves quite yet. I believe he'd require waivers to go back down since it's been about 30 days since he was demoted.

Most likely Dewar is in the Meyers slot, domi and nylander in, matthews out.

If matthews was in we'd likely see a Placeholder for domi's spot, although if both are in then domi replaces holmberg.

I suppose it depends on what they think of Steeves. If they think he has any NHL chance, at some point they need to give him a chance. If they think he's just a good AHL player for the Marlies, sure, keep him down there... Grebenkin I believe wouldn't require waivers... If Matthews is out, and Patches, I think they could use a bit more offense...so that's why I'm suggesting sitting Reaves.
