yes
I do that trade. Then immediately trade RNH. Buyout Pouliot after the season.

Package RNH + Ceci for a quality 1st liner.

Oiler say no. Ryan 7.5 ffor 5 years after this cap hit would tie our hands long term.
Pouiliout only has two years left and Nuge is serving his propose right now

Deal is in Ottawa's favor (however I'm not as high on RNH as most people)

Let's note that the OP is NOT a Sens fan (or well, we never saw him before). Just to put things in perspective to avoid this thread getting ugly.

Jordan Eberle since the lockout: 444gp - 150g - 194a - 344pts
Bobby Ryan since the lockout: 456gp - 142g - 180a - 322pts.
Eberle is a $6m cap hit, Ryan is $7.25m.
Eberle is 26, Ryan 29.

?

Eberle + 2nd for Ryan + Lazar +3rd

Edmonton would do it ;)

Edmonton still wouldn't do that as our 2nd is owed to Boston for signing Chiarelli.

On top of the fact Eberle is younger, cheaper and more productive. There's also zero chance we take back more cap hit in an Eberle trade when you consider the contracts that will be needed to retain McDavid, Draisaitl and Nurse off their entry level contracts.

If all this isn't enough, the main piece Edmonton needs is a PMD RD. That would be the consideration in an Eberle trade. Offer Ceci with Ryan and Eberle + Pouliot and a pick can go Ottawa's way. We don't need a Lazar. Keep him.

Ceci and Lazar have drastically different values.

Nuge is very underrated

Not really. He puts up meh numbers, barely drives possession if at all, isn't as good defensively as Oilers fans say, and sucks at faceoffs. His $6M cap hit just makes things even worse when it comes to his value.

With all that said, this trade offer is still terrible from an Oilers perspective

What about this for fun

:edmonton

Bobby Ryan (6 years left @ 7.25m AAV. 29 then UFA)
Cody Ceci (2 years left @ 2.8m AAV. 22 then RFA)
Curtis Lazar (1 year left @ 0.894m AAV. 21 then RFA)

:sens

Jordan Eberle (3 years left @ 6.0m AAV. 26 then UFA)
Drake Caggiula (2 years left @ 0.925m AAV. 22 then RFA)
2nd round pick in 2018

Note : Sens would have to fill Ceci's hole though, so not sure if they'd do it. However that trade would be good for them (even if I love Ceci) because they could protect Methot for the expansion draft.

OR

:edmonton

Bobby Ryan (6 years left @ 7.25m AAV. 29)
Cody Ceci (2 years left @ 2.8m AAV. 22 then RFA)
Curtis Lazar (1 year left @ 0.894m AAV. 21 then RFA)
1st round pick in 2017
Filip Chlapik (still in junior)

:sens

Jordan Eberle (3 years left @ 6.0m AAV. 26 then UFA)
Jesse Puljujarvi (3 years left @ 3.425m AAV. 18 then RFA)
5th round pick in 2017

I don't think the Oilers would be interested in a Ryan for Eberle swap.

I do think that RNH would be a much better fit for what Ottawa needs then Brassard. What would the Oilers have to add to get a RNH and Reinhart for Brassard and Ceci swap?

BIG NO from Ottawa...

RNH makes 6.0 PER YEAR in salary (average of 56 pts per 82 games the last 2 years)
Brassard makes 10.0 for the duration 3 YEARS left on his contract (average of 55 pts per 82 games the last 2 years)

The thing is that RNH is paid that high salary during his RFA years. It was a bit premature IMO

Anyway, i doesn't matter much as Reinhart has no use for Ottawa and there is no reason to offer Ceci to make a Brassard-RNH swap just to tighten the budget a bit more
