If he plays this year keep him on the third pair. Let's be patient and gradually increase his ice time as the season progresses

This is a bit of an imagined distinction on your part, all 6 of our DMen are playing between ~18.5-21 mins now with Chabot out and Sanderson, assuming he is healthy enough to play this year, will be fine in that range.

Sanderson had to miss UND's tournament game with a hand injury and it sounds like it'll keep him out for a little while longer but would be in line to make his NHL debut closer to the end of the season.

Forgot he was still in the NCAA and assumed he was signed/playing AHL. Guy could be the next Pietrangelo and has had time to develop.

When can he start playing?
17 games left in the season. Was hoping we would only play him for the final 9 to not burn a contract year.

Edit: Injury suggest he might play the final 5 or so

Good news for Ottawa. Really looking forward to watching him play, was a big fan his draft year.

Good signing, I think he's a guaranteed regular in the NHL but not sure if he'll pan out the way people expect him to - i.e. top pairing
