To Ottawa - Jack Quinn

To Buffalo - Ridly Greig

Both players are struggling in their last ELC year. Greig is a centre forced to play wing due to Ottawa’s centre depth while Buffalo is struggling at Centre.

Quinn played very well against Toronto after a healthy scratch and I always liked his hockey IQ, not sure I'd give him up for a guy like Greig (even if that might be a fair trade, Idk). He's had some bad luck with injuries but hopefully he can find his game. I would probably trade Peterka first, but not for Greig.

Don’t think Ottawa is looking at trading Greig at all, but at least Quinn had some intriguing potential not long ago. I have not followed how his overall game has been developing though.

Honestly, there's a large part of me that would rather trade Peterka than Quinn.........but the deal in the OP is pretty close value-wise.
Same thing, I just don't see where Greig fits in. He doesn't seem like a 2C, he's actually playing fourth line right now, he has seven points. He might be the type of player we need, but I don't think he's like a guys like Kreider or Crouse, but those guys are more experienced veterans, and Greig is another young player for the lineup. But right now, I don't want to trade Quinn.

go on....
Looks like Ottawa and Buffalo are bad trading partners. Our main problems are top 4 RDs and top 6 C.

Greig is best suited as a C and played his best NHL games there with skilled wingers. Problem is he's not beating any of Stu, Norris, or Pinto for the C. He's probably not beating McLeod there for now, but has a much higher ceiling than McLeod on the Sabres and allows Cozens to play as a skilled winger for him.

If only we had Järventie to trade for Peterka :sarcasm:

Well, it's a risk and as I already said, we need proven guys, of course I would probably take a flyer for Greig, but I don't want to trade Quinn, he's one of our few players who has a high hockey IQ.

Wouldn’t pull the trigger as a Sens fan. Not the start of the season I’m sure either him or Ottawa were hoping for but I’m not ready to throw in the towel. I like Quinn too, and wouldn’t be upset if the trade happened but given the option I’d pass.

Fine, fine nobody want to give up Quinn for Greig. We'll settle for Peterka then.

Greig can play C and has offensive upside to go with his grit. I would be sad to see him go.

Peterka would look mighty fine running shotgun for Stûtlze....

Why are Buffalo fans willing to move on from Peterka?

50 points last year and still pacing 50 this season. 22 years old, average size.

Is it because of his next contract?

Asking purely from curiosity.

Because he is currently slumping.

Unless Greig can handle 2c duties right away, it's a no thanks from this Sabres fan. Quinn has too much potential.

Does he project as anything more than a 3C? His point pace has gone down every season and his underlyings are in the tank.

I know Quinn is also awful this year but I'd probably rather keep the devil I know.

It’s tough to gauge if he ends up as a 2C or 3C, he’s kind of in the middle. Has skill but not sure he is skilled enough to carry a line. I would say he has played well along side talented players but his offense disappears along side less skilled players. Right situation he could be a 2C. I don’t think Ottawa is the right situation for him, this season he’s been stuck at wing. I think eventually he becomes a trade chip, especially if Ostapchuk solidifies his position on the big club.
