Sadly I think I have to agree. Even Jeff Saturday, as wildly unqualified as he is, was still a better head coach than Hackett.

The crazy thing to me is, the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers obviously missed Hackett this season. Would not be surprised at all if he limped back to Wisconsin and took his old job back.
Yeah, I think he needs one thing to focus on when coaching. And clearly he has a decent understanding on the offensive side of things. But the dude can not handle multiple things on his plate at once.

Houston has requested to interview Evero for their coaching spot.

If any of Harbaugh, Payton or Quinn are hired, is there any chance he's staying or is he pretty much gone regardless?

I’m still on the anti Wilson train. It’s a small comparison. We can argue again next year. If they can get some lineman and say healthy I don’t think I can get any worse then it was this year.

Harbaugh is probably the best chance of him sticking around. Evero coached under Harbaugh with the niners. Payton wants Vic as his defensive coordinator and that seems to not be an issue yet to move forward in interviewing. I doubt Evero would take a demotion and work under Vic, but Evero has worked under Fangio before and runs a lot of the same defense. I’m not sure if Quinn’s defensive style matches Evero’s. I just don’t know enough about Quinn; so - maybe?

Get used to Evero getting interviewed though. He’s going to be a hot candidate and with the Rooney rules in place for minorities he’s gonna get a ton of attention, even if some teams are just doing it for procedural purposes.

Where are all of the Wilson haters?

He still sucks. 13 of 24 isn't exactly lighting it up. Not going to get lucky and have 4 50 yard passes a game.

He had like 10 yards passing until like 30 second left in the 1st half.

We'll see how truly bad he is next year when he continues his subpar play under a new coach.

Harbaugh got to a Superbowl, just didn't win it. I think it's quite clear he can be a winning coach quickly.
The league wanted Ray "The Murderer" Lewis to win the SB that year. The Broncos got hosed by the refs in their playoff game against the Ravens, and the 9'ers got hosed in the SB by an uncalled DPI at the end of the game.

I mean the positive there is that even with Wilson playing like complete dog shit all season, once they started using plays similar to the ones he ran in Seattle he started completing some deep passes and big plays were happening. I don’t think that Wilson is going to be anything close to what he was in Seattle here, but if he can play a more buttoned up version of sundays game here I think the Broncos can at least be a somewhat decent team going forwards.

The biggest issue with Wilson, is Wilson. He doesn't want to play the way that made him effective in Seattle. He was very adamant about wanting to avoid that. Maybe some humble pie will help him get over that, but frankly, he doesn't seem like a guy who eats humble pie very well.

I really hope not, but from what I saw this year I'm not not getting my hopes up.

I saw a guy who struggled with a new offense, be it he didn't bother to learn it or just couldn't learn it, neither is good. He struggled to identify simple blitz packages. He struggled going through simple progressions. His accuracy was abysmal. Misread tons of plays each week. He held the ball way to long. Etc.

So for it to change he is really going to have to pull a 180 and rededicate himself to training and studying the playbook. Not sure he is willing to do that since he appears to have gone full Hollywood and cares more about his appearance than football.

Oh Well get that high round pick in a better QB draft then.

Unfortunately we'll win 5 to 7 games which won't be nearly bad enough to get the only guy worth a shit next year in Caleb Williams. 2024 draft if I recall is supposed to be slim pickings in terms of QBs.

Wilson was undoubtedly bad but the offensive line was even worse. Even Mahomes would’ve bern bad behind that line. Getting Bolles back will help a bit but they need to invest draft picks and $ on the line if they want to better next year. Russ got hammered every game and by the halfway mark of the season he seemed almost scared every time he dropped back and because of that he never set his feet and made a lot of horrible decisions. If the line can get fixed I think we see a very different Wilson and offense in general. Getting Javonte back will be nice as well even though Latavious was great considering what he came into. Jeudy also showed what he is capable of the last quarter of the season. Making him your WR1 and moving Sutton down should help both of them. Getting Patrick back will help a ton and hopefully having a full season of Dulcich as well. I guess overall I’m somehow optimistic as long as they can fix the o line. That is the one thing that has to happen in my eyes

I got a feeling Rattler is going to come back and finally get to top 5 status again. I wouldn't mind him - he's got a ton of talent and learned some valuable life lessions in getting benched at Oklahoma. He's went through the humbling process in his early 20's that Russell Wilson needs to go through in his late 30's.

lol funny enough - walterfootball has the Denver Broncos at pick #1 in 2024 -

So hard to predict standings for next season. Den, LAR, Ind, Az all had veteran QBs with Kyler the youngest and they all ended up at 3-6 OA in draft.

Who are the worst teams in each division next season?

If no other QB in Ten then they are going to be in trouble. Wash, need a QB. Any of the nfc south cause they all need a new QB. GB is Rodgers is gone. Chicago needs to hit on free agency and this draft. Rams could be bad if no McVay and they move vets to reacquire draft picks.

Who’s going to be at 5 wins or fewer to land the top 2 spots? Hard to predict.

Gotta admit - I agree a lot with this article…..Every coach we interview always has some sort of ties to the org or is buddies with someone on the inside. Rarely do the Broncos ever pursue outsiders that could bring something new and fresh.

LV will be breaking in a new QB too

2024 looks stacked. Williams, Maye, Ewers, and Travis could all be long term starters. Travis is gonna turn some heads next season, I think he might go #1 over Williams. Sanders, Nix, Rattler, and Daniels have shown some NFL ability. Then you have the Penix, Pratt, McCall group who might sneak around.

Could be a veteran or a rookie. Just won’t know yet til after free agency begins to see where guys land. But as we saw this season having a vet qb is no longer a guarantee of not finishing bottom 5.
