Totally expected the Nuggets to letdown after the Clips beatdown but they looked strong. I'm just imagining them getting to a point where the D is better, every one of the injured guys is playing at 100% and they put out a good consistent effort every game. They would be very hard to beat in the West if they did that, lets hope they get there by April.

If it takes this years first round pick and the ownership group throws a massive amount of money to N.O. so as not to give up any more draft picks, I'm on board.
We were screwed in this upcoming draft anyway

A lot of positive signs regarding the possibility of Payton. The fact that there's already an understanding of what the compensation will be, Payton being interested enough to meet, him repeatedly saying ownership is one of the biggest keys he's looking at and the Broncos willing to spend any cost, research he has already done on Wilson, etc. The compensation was the biggest thing I wondered about but if they're already on the same page then that's good. Saints ownership and management also love Payton and their GM is one of his best friends so I doubt they'd haggle to the point where they prevent him from taking the job if he really wants it.

The Cowboys embarrassing themselves in the playoffs, which is always a very real and hilarious possibility, is a wild card. It seems he has been linked to them for like 10 years now. He'd get all of the spotlight and attention he clearly craves and a much better roster to work with. However, he'd have to deal with Jerry's BS on a daily basis so....

There's also this possiblity:

Broncos can't afford Payton. Can't give away yet another 1st round pick. I mean at what point do the Broncos just accept the facts that the team constructed as is, is garbage, and a coach isn't going to just fix it.

There are simply too many holes to just keep giving away high end draft capital.

If you want to swing big you go after Harbaugh at least that's just a cash investment that has no bearing on anything other than the owners wallet.

The 49rs pick we have will most likely be a very late 1st round pick. If that's what they want for Payton, then do it! Harbaugh is a crazy ass and constantly loses in big games. I want nothing to do with him.

I mean, Harbaugh is 5-3 in NFL playoffs while Payton is 9-8. Is there really a difference? I think both guys are fantastic head coaches at the NFL level. Harbaugh had the 49ers buzzing while he was there.

I'd absolutely go with the one that won a Superbowl and is not crazy.

I would go with the one that doesn't cost us anything to "trade" for.

The Broncos suck, they need better players. Can't be giving away 1st round picks to get a coach that doesn't even have that great of a track record considering how good of a QB he had for so many years. What 1 SB appearance? With Brees he should have been able to do a little more than that.

And you are dreaming if the Saints would be willing to take the 49ers 1st this year. They aren't stupid. They saw how bad Russ was this year and how the Squawks got the #3 overall pick. They'll be demanding next year's 1st for sure, and it will be top 10. A coach isn't saving this team, Russ blows and isn't going to magically get better.

Harbaugh got to a Superbowl, just didn't win it. I think it's quite clear he can be a winning coach quickly.
Had he won that Superbowl there might be a conversation to be had, but he didn't. Loosing at the biggest stage isn't gonna convince me he's the coach for the Broncos. I'd rather not deal with his BS and pay up for Payton who's actually won it all.

The saints would be lucky to get a 1st round pick for him. No one else will pay that. They would absolutely take that trade.

There are 8 current coaches with SB wins. When only 25% of the league has supposed "winning" coaches, you have to hire a good coach when he becomes available. Payton/Harbaugh - I see no difference in quality between the two, just different styles.

Exactly. There's only 8 current coaches and we have the opportunity to get one that has a fantastic reputation with his players. I'd be willing to pay for that.

I really just don't wanna deal with Harbaugh's brand of crazy. In my eyes, Payton is the better and safer pick, so I'd be willing to pay for that.

The Texans just won and gave the first overall pick to the Bears. They already have Fields. I wonder what happens there? Trade Fields? Trade back and stock up on picks? The draft is gonna be very interesting I think.

Trade the pick to a team that wants Stroud/Young. Should able to get a lot back since it’s obvious Texans is taking one them at 2.

Fields is awesome, build around him.

Oh and MPJ has 100% bought in with the team. He’s the biggest cheerleader when on the bench and then saying stuff like this?

I think they can make it work with Fields. I think they can get a real haul for trading down from 1 that would really round out the team.
I’d like for Fields to work but I don’t see it happening. The guy has his best games on the ground, not in the air.

I don’t know if there’s a prime QB to be had in this year’s draft, so if there’s not, then trade down or whatever. If there is, take him.

There is recent precedent with the Cards cutting bait on Rosen.
