Saints probably called and told them what the compensation would have to be and Penner/Paton hung up on them. Broncos need that first this year in the worst way, I'd just say no. If the comp was reasonable, say a couple of mid round picks, I'd agree Payton is a great choice. But since the Gruden "trade" of multiple firsts for a coach the market seems pretty set at a ridiculous level.
BB cost the Pats a first rounder in 2000 and 4 & 7 round picks in 2001.
Gruden 2 first and 2 seconds as he was a hot commodity with a winning record with Oakland.
Parcells from pts to jets cost NYJ 3rd and 4th in 1997, 2nd in 1998 and 1st in 1999.

No chance reasonable picks for Payton is a couple of mid round picks. Payton is a really good HC. Price of SF’s first would be an easy yes except for giving up all of those 4 draft picks for Russ already.

Yeah I didn't realize that he was signed through 2024. I thought he was a FA head coach. Well this makes me sad. Maybe if no one offers the Saints anything we could land him for a 5th or some special teamer.

A guy convulsing and now a guy getting CPR. I love the NFL but you can’t convince me the league is doing anything to help these guys with head injuries, despite all the billions of money it has.

This is as off the mark as all the clowns online trying to say this is vaccine related.

Jesus Christ. Like Skip is obviously the worst, but you’d think even he’d have the awareness regarding this situation…

I'm not quite sure how he meant that tweet. He acknowledges that the game is meaningless but then says it's important? I just don't know.
Yeah I don’t get it either. I hate Skip as a sports personality (yet his brother makes some of the most calming cooking videos)… but hard to really say wtf he meant.

Oh I absolutely DESPISE Skip (should read how "First Take" completely transformed how ESPN does business and became a far, far worse network as a result) but...yeah, I have no idea. Perhaps he's just too dumb to present a basic human opinion without throwing in some kind of controversial take.

For someone in the media who has to talk and I guess write in his earlier days, that tweet was poorly worded.
The game at this point in time is irrelevant.

But the nfl is a business, and there are TV commitments with regards to week 18 and WC weekend playoffs. Ultimately, this game will need to be played and concluded. It may be Tuesday or worst case Wednesday.

Meaning week 18 games for both clubs will either get pushed to Monday or they get a TNF treatment going from Wed to Sun against teams that have a full week off.

Does that impact competitive fairness? It does, but given the circumstances it can’t be avoided.

Jesus, he’s still in critical condition. Apparently it could be days before they make any change in his prognosis.
Since he needed CPR and they had to restart his heart the concern now is how long his brain was without oxygen and what the impact to his brain is as a result.

They said it was roughly eight minutes of CPR, the brain is only supposed to survive five minutes without oxygen, hope to God he recovers fully.

Obviously this is the only thing NFL Network and ESPN are talking about right now, seeing the footage of the Bills players in tears is just gut-wrenching.

I suppose one good thing to come out of this is that donations poured into his annual toy drive fund for underprivileged kids after news about his condition broke. It went from a couple thousand to (I believe) to around $4 million at last count.

Scary stuff. Another doctor said hopefully his brain was getting some oxygen well before the end of the CPR and that it might have only been 3 or 4 minutes without some functional supply. Until he's taken out of sedation they really can't know what damage might have occurred. Just devastating to see, as said this could have happened on any play and in any sport. Just scares you with hockey because guys are taking shots to the chest all the time, you hope that body armor they have is sufficient to prevent something like this from happening.
