Doesn’t matter. There’s only 32 available slots. And like every other sport, the same five guys always seem to be rotated through a portion of them, that leaves only very few opportunities every year. If there’s an opening and ownership is willing to pay (and there’s no reason to believe they won’t) they’ll have no issue getting someone good.
We’re not gonna agree here, we’ll find out soon enough.

Nuggets showed some resolve and came back from behind against the Kings on the first of a B2B, they did the exact opposite tonight.

Don’t quite understand how they loaded up on defensive players this offseason and strangely look worse defensively than they did last season.

He was responsible for bringing aboard my least-favorite Bronco ever (Kyle Orton) so he remains my most-hated Broncos coach by several country miles, but I still think poor, hapless VJ and Hackett were worse.
They were worse gameday coaches, but McDaniels augmented considerable ineptitude on the sideline with an absolutely Stalinist effect on personnel.

Every OC or DC is hot for a certain period of time. Kris Richard of Seattle who took over as heDC after Quinn had HC interviews a year or two into his tenure as DC. But since the LOB aged out and or got injured his stock had fallen and he’s no longer a HC candidate.

But you only get 1 shot at a first impression. The top guys will get to choose their spot. But if you are looking for a veteran HC to deal with Wilson that market after Payton shrinks. And it’s mostly Defnesive guys with experience aside from Reich and Caldwell.

Wilson for Carr- straight up.
That can’t happen. Carr has just $5.6 mill of dead money.
Wilson’s contract more complicated. 2023 and 2024 base salary and option are fully guaranteed at a cap hit of $12 mill than $25 mill.

But his 2025 base salary of $37 mill becomes guaranteed on the 5th day of the 2024 league year. Meaning that to avoid the $37 mill cap charge for 2025, you’d need to cut Russ sometime before March 23, 2024 and eat his $25 mill guaranteed money in 2024 season.

Oh I agree Payton is a pipe dream but I also don't think every viable candidate is going to turn their nose up at the opening in Denver either, no matter how bleak the situation looks.

Agreed on this. Average people look at this and say let me find the easiest spot to win in. If you have a good coaches ego that's the last thing you say. They believe they are the one to turn a bad situation around and with it will come all the kudos and opportunities. A weak coach says I better pick the best spot because if it doesn't work I may not get another shot.

Besides the mess is far from the worst situation out there. There is a ton more talent than most losing teams. Wilson isn't elite any more but go ask half the teams out there if they would rather roll with Russ than their bonfires. Many teams would take him for the time being but would wisely steer clear of his contract.

I was looking further into Wilson’s contract and it guarantees the 2025 base salary within a few days after the start of the 2024 league year. It’s similar to the zeke deal in that they need to cut him a year early and still eat a bunch of dead money.

Higher end coaches will evaluate the whole situation. From owner, GM, roster, etc. not sure where Denver ranks. Every team is a quality draft away from turning it around. Seattle would have been a 4/5 win team but they nailed their picks even after the Denver ones in Lucas the RT, Bryant the nickel and Woolen the CB in rounds 3-5.

Denver will need something similar. Can they nail a great draft with SF first, their 3rd and one more pick in day 3 to bolster the OL, RB, etc?

I can’t stand Harbaugh but I hope he comes in here and turns this roster upside down. First orders of business - dump Sutton and Hamler for picks, cut Glasgow, sign a vet backup QB, re-sign Latavius, and fire the strength/conditioning coach.

I think the Seahawks were just lucky, they look like a 4-5 win team but pulled out some close wins earlier. Now they can't beat anyone decent because talent matters in the end.

Seattle is still a flawed team. DL is still weak. But they fixed a few areas of massive need like Both OT and a pair of CB. In good position to upgrade at DL and IOL and the middle of their Defence in this draft.

Denver needs to rock a draft to turn the tide. Figure an OL and probably a weapon or add to the D to replace a higher cap hit for their top 2 selections.

Kroenke about to go on a spending spree to build the Rams a new HQ and practice facility. What exactly is he doing for his other franchises? Really sucks to be his stepchildren. Go win a title Nuggs and you'll be like the Avs on the top of the world but then seeing perennial losing franchises having better facilities.

They literally just renovated the locker room and a new practice facility is on the way.

But did they finish the drywall?

Isn't the practice facility dependent on getting approvals for the big redevelopment around the arena? In a weird way when you own your own arena you get fewer improvements because you can't hold the city or state hostage for it. Not that Ball Arena is a terrible place but it's feeling in the bottom half of existing arenas now and definitely feels dated. Even worse is how it's downtown but not close to much pre/post game activity. Let's go Stan, go get your checkbook out.

Wow, cannot believe Gordon made that shot under the hoop while getting dragged down. Would’ve been even more awesome had he made the free throw right after.

Also cannot believe Erik Spoelstra has been the Heat coach for the last thirty-nine years and hasn’t aged for any of them.
