So Evero apparently was offered the interim HC job and declined it?

I'd say that guy is as good as gone this Summer, too.

I don't think that guy is as good as some have made him out to be, either.

Broncos brought in the best O-Line coach in the NFL, and replaced him with a guy who got fired today.

Pretty sure his daughter lives in Denver and he wanted to be close to her or something like that. Basically he wanted to be with the Broncos and we got rid of him.

I do think the O-Line struggles are overblown. Obviously it sucks big time but o-line play across the league has been bad for years now. Wilson holds onto the ball forever and runs into so many sacks as well. I think the days hoping for an elite o-line for 98% of the league is dead. It's why QB mobility is so much more important in this era. I can see Denver burning most of our draft capital on the offensive line and everyone still complaining about it next year.

I'll respectfully disagree, though the injuries have taken a major toll.

I saw the stats and they were staggering. Something like 25th in rush yards, close to dead last in pass protection. Wilson's own failure is part of the issue but the front five have struggled mightily since Munchak left, even before the injuries started. No idea how they fix it but it's clear whatever playbook they were using to build the blocking game has to be thrown out the window along with just about everything else.

Oh I agree the offensive line sucks and is one of the worst in the league. I just think the difference nowadays between the 17th best o-line and the 30th best o-line is significantly smaller than it used to be. That having a QB who can make the proper calls at the line or has the mobility to buy some extra time makes a huge difference. We can certainly improve the o-line with coaching and adding some pieces but I don't think doing that will be the fix some think it will. Getting rid of Munchak was a huge mistake but I don't think it would have fixed anything on the offense long term if Wilson plays horrific.

While our offensive line has sucked and the coaching has sucked in that area .. Wilson has also dragged it down. I think if you swapped out Wilson for a top tier QB or even an above average one the statistics would look alot different. Trash QB play makes offensive lines look that much worse

Well, one thing we know for sure, the perception that the guys blocking for Wilson aren’t necessarily putting in their best effort is not just shared by the fans, as evidenced by Rypien’s confrontation with Risner.

I think both can be true. Offensive line is horrible but offensive lines across the league aren't all that good anymore - though the clearly elite still stand out. Case in point the Bucs' Super Bowl win against the Chiefs. That KC offensive line was mangled and hanging on by a thread, and the Bucs annihilated them. Mahomes for all his greatness couldn't do a damn thing because the O-line got obliterated and he was either running for his life or getting sacked every play.

It's just not a position that pays anymore. Over the years we've seen the trend shift towards defensive players. That's where the big money seems to be. Offensive linemen are still getting paid but it's not the premium position it used to be known for. All the young super athletes want to either be playmakers on offense or hell raisers on defense. It's no fun protecting a QB.

In that Super Bowl the refs did their damn job and called KC for the multiple holds they were getting away with in the regular season and playoffs. Cheating ass bastards! They went and replaced a bunch of guys and taught the new ones to hold like gorilla glue.

Bah, Alex Gibbs was the cheatingest O-line coach in NFL history. He was the king of cut blocks (which, hey, I believe are still legal) and the refs once ordered the entire line off the field to get cleaned off because they covered their arms and jerseys in Crisco.

He was good at his job though, revolutionary in fact.

If you think firing Hackett will make even the slightest difference in this team you are out to lunch. He was simply the scapegoat who took the fall for Wilson and Paton. Sure he had his problems but they are far less than the problems Paton and Wilson cause.

Until Russ and Paton are shown the door as well, nothing will change.

Paton sucks, despite what people say his drafting is mediocre not any better than any other GM. His UFA track record stinks, trades are average, he's been part of two awful coaches, and the cherry on top was paying ungodly immovable money to a guy who didn't even take a snap with this team, all while mortgaging the entire future to acquire him. He sucks and needs to get the f*** out. The only reason people think he is ok, is because he replaced Elway who was complete dog shit so the bar wasn't exactly high.

And Russ, there isn't much that hasn't already been said but the guy is an asshole, con artist, wannabe celeb who has no interest in football or his teammates. His only goal at this point is to be told how awesome he is, by his yes boy entourage and post stupid social media videos. I've never seen a player this arrogant and stuck up in any sport and I've been watching lots of sports for 35+ years.

The only way that makes sense is if they’re firing Paton. If not than this org is in for the long haul of being a shitty org.

Me and my brother in-law were joking around about Hackett getting fired. And came to the very drunkenly decision that it only happened because the Kroenke's were part of the Walmart family Christmas dinner. The whole time just mocking the Broncos while their Ram's slaughtered them. I'm not much for conspiracy theories, but God I hope that's true.

It's become very obvious that Russell Wilson brutally killed everyone you care about and forced you to watch but that notwithstanding there is a lot wrong with what you're saying.

Firstly, hackett's 'fantastic cast' of jabroni coaches has the team lead the league in penalties. That's not really something you can pin on your mortal enemy RW. That's just a badly coached team. From hackett's idiotic decisions to start the season that forced him to hire a guy externally to help him with those moronic decisions to giving up the play-calling altogether but NOT to the guy he hired as 'Offensive Coordinator' - because, apparently, his buddy he gave the job to - was horribly unqualified to call plays and they had to hand over that part of the job to the only guy who's done in before in Kubiak Jr.. None of that is on Russell Wilson. That's not to mention anything about keeping 'Fumble Gordon The Turd' in the lineup after continually fumbling the ball in crucial situations - he was kept 7-8 weeks too long and kept costing the team - what a joke.

If you truly believe that none of what I just wrote above would 'make even the slightest difference' then there is no helping you. Maybe a 'better' QB should have been able to rise above all of this ridiculous nonsense but it's probably a good thing he didn't - if we had won 4-5 of those 1 score games, maybe we'd be stuck with that moron hackett for another year still after this shitty season.

So I guess I am out to lunch because I believe that ALL of those factors actually DO add up to 'significant hindrance' in trying to win football games. If you actually believe that Paton had the autonomy to not only make the decision to trade for Russell Wilson but also to extend him to that contract and give him $250 million dollars WITHOUT THE CONSENT of those new owners then I guess you and I are out to lunch together because there is NO WAY, NO HOW that those people bought a franchise for $4 BILLION and didn't sign-off on BOTH the trade AND the extension.

I can't read this name and not think John Ellis from Entourage. They probably have the same personalities.

I didn't watch past like season four or whatever, I assume this John Ellis is actually good at his job. Joe Ellis was an incompetent stooge who thought he knew better than everyone else. Took advantage of his friend who was wracked with dementia and his dysfunctional children and simply ratcheted up conflict between the latter for personal profit. I suppose there was some Machiavellian-level scheming done but I really don't want to give that guy the credit.

The beautiful thing about the Broncos season being a shit sandwich is that we are hockey fans!
Thank goodness for that. My buddy whom I've been friends with for over 40 years is a die-hard football fan and he's been in hell since 2017.

Huh. I'm only now putting together that the last great Broncos team was around the same time as the very worst Avs team.
