Marquee needs a new Comcast deal as well and they're getting the same high tier talk.

RSNs are f***ing dead. Make an app, run commercials and charge a fee to watch the team(s). Thats it. Then let Comcast put it on the highest tier and those people who don't want an app will just have to deal with that.

On positive it doesn't look like Getz gave him away like he did Cease

C Kyle Teel (#25 prospect on MLB Pipeline top 100)
OF Braden Montgomery (#54 prospect on MLB Pipeline top 100)
INF Chase Meidroth (Red Sox #11 ranked prospect)
RHP Wikelman Gonzalez (Red Sox #14 ranked prospect)

Still doesn't feel like great haul but not robbery like expected

It's a great haul. Crochet only has two years of control left, and has a single healthy season under his belt.

The Sox can't develop sh$t, the Red Sox keep most of their best pieces for trades later, so while it looks good for Jerry and team backwards on paper, this should be a laugher in no time if I were to bet.

This whole Kyle Tucker trade is some of my least favorite things to do. Paying premier assets and then paying a guy hundreds of millions. No thanks.
You sound like Jerry Reinsdorf. It turns out that paying guys hundreds of millions is his least favorite thing to do as well.

Yeah this is one of the only things the Sox have done right in the last 5 years. In the span of a year, Crochet went from a 'meh' value to bringing in this huge haul. I do wish the headliner wasn't a catcher, but it's still a really nice package.

Trust me I’d love them to just not trade for him and pay him 500M next year. But they won’t. They’re not going to win the WS next year so I don’t see the point in moving a huge piece.

If moving Smith and Parades meant they’d sign him to a huge deal then sure I’ll do it just to see them spend.

Where were Teel and Montgomery ranked amongst just the top Red Sox prospects?
The other 2 guys were only #11 and #14in the RedSox farm system ...tgat is to say marginal long shot chance to make any significant star impact...

So ICrochet brought us their #4 and#5 Red Sox farm prospects ...They were not giving us their#1prospect who is an outfielder..but would have liked their next highest outfield prospect as Montgomery was only their 3rd highest outfield prospect..

As for Teel being 25th ranked in Baseball's Top 100 prospects...that is fine but Montgonery at #54is starting to be an iffier shot at becoming a star.

Not saying having 2 top catcher prospects is bad or overkill ..but probably more insurance in case Quero does nott become a star.

Hioevthiscworkdvout better than tge Salecto Boston deal ifc2016...Montana and Kopecch=yuck and 2 other nothingburgers...Got fleeced by Boston on that one.

Hope this brings us at monumum 1 long term star back..

But this being tge White Sox,do not bet the farm (pun intended) on it.

Well at least this makes next year a hell of a lot more interesting. I would be ecstatic if I could fool myself into thinking Ricketts had any intention of paying Tucker what it'll take to keep him long term.

I was really intrigued by Cam Smith and since he's going to Houston you just know he's going to hit his ceiling somehow. If you told me a year ago they could turn Morel, Wesneski, and a mid-first rounder into a year of Kyle Tucker I would be pretty stoked (obviously Smith's stock has risen since the draft)

In what sense. Like I'm fine with trading for a good player but giving up that much for a rental isn't adding up.
Only person I regret in this trade is Cam Smith, who I believe will be a good one. The presence of Matt Shaw mitigates losing Cam Smith. Wesneski is a JAG, imo and Parades is a solid but unspectular 3B. So in essense, in my eyes, this was basically Cam Smith for Kyle Tucker. While Cam Smith could be a great player, Kyle Tucker is ALREADY a great player. I make this trade (extension or no) all seven days of the week.

With that said, I doubt Jed makes this trade unless he plans to extend Kyle Tucker. Even if he does not, then if the Cubs are out of it by the deadline (i hope not), then they have one hell of a trade chip. If the Cubs keep him all year, then QO him and get a good draft pick in return. But my money is on the Cubs extending him, especially once they move Bellinger.

This is a great trade with no downside for the Cubs. I don't understand the pessimism about this trade?

The pessimism is that Tucker is going to command at least $300 million a year from now and Ricketts has not shown he's willing to spend like that. Tucker has no reason to extend and after the deal Soto just got it would frankly be malpractice by his agent to not push him to test free agency, where teams that are serious about winning will blow the Cubs' offer out of the water. Would love to be wrong!

there is only one player making any kind of money pass 2026 and that is Swanson. Tom knows this and so does Jed. That is why I believe Tom will give him the go ahead to sign Tucker long term.

I have no doubt Tucker will be a Cub long term. If not the only player worth missing in this trade is Cam Smith. It would l d suck but not cripple the Cubs.
