I can't seem to find a consensus best way to get into downtown LA to Staples during weekday traffic. I am coming from Laguna Niguel right on the coast (here for my honeymoon). My wife and I are going to the upcoming Thursday game v. Colorado and the Saturday game v. Anaheim.

The best way I've found on Google maps is to take the 73 toll road to the 405 to the 110. Others have recommended taking the 5 instead but live traffic always shows much more congestion on the 5 versus the 405. I also like the 405 because we get the first 20 miles or so on a toll road.

Thoughts? Both my wife and I live in Vegas and have been to Staples many times before always getting annihilated by traffic at some point coming from Laguna/Dana Point area. Any tips or tricks for us?

BTW, we're setting out around 3pm both Thursday and Saturday.

Congrats on getting married!

I come up from Huntington Beach all the time, most times later than you. I NEVER take the 110.

I go 405N to 710N to 5N to 10W, exit at Los Angeles St, right on Los Angeles, left on Pico, and park in the lot behind Hooters on Figueroa. Short walk to the arena.

This way would be even better at 3PM on a weekday.

Traffic's always a crapshoot. If I leave for a 7:30 game at 6:00, sometimes I'm two beers in at gametime....other times I'm still in line at the bar when the puck drops. And yes, I mark time by how many beers I drink.

Congratulations on getting married!

I come from the north to Staples so I have no idea. Sorry. Just wanted to say congrats.

I second this. I live in the OC, and whenever going to LA, I take the 5N to 91W to 710N to 5N to 10W.

You'll be more than fine at 3pm. You should get to Staples around 4:15-4:30

The 110 has carpool lanes . Something did happen to those with Fastrak and toll lanes

The 405 is almost always going to move faster than the 5 and has carpool lanes

Here's a better more traffic free route for you

91 to 605 to 105 to 110 is much quicker and the 105 and 100 have carpool lanes

I always take the 405 to the 110 and usually get there from HB in 30-40 mins. However, since you are not local and therefore I doubt you have the new FastTrak pass, I would recommend taking an alternative route. They turned the 110 carpool lanes into Fastrak only, even if you are carpooling you have to have the FastTrak pass. That means you'll be stuck out in the normal lanes which could be pretty ugly by the time you hit that stretch.

I had no idea there were so many of us in OC. We should have a gangster party one day.

Axl, where in OC are you?

How long is a flight from John Wayne to LAX? Because I'm thinking of buying my own private jet instead.

I unfortunately did it once. I was flying from SFO and they decided to combine two flights. It 20 minutes. It took longer to taxi and open the doors than it took to fly there

The 73 is a toll as well but you can pay cash. The 110 you must have the transponder now to use the carpool lane.

Google is correct for you. That's the way we've gone for years. Take the 5 and add 45 mins to your time. CARPOOL is key. Leave around 4pm and your set in time to watch the pre show and warmups. :yo:

Gratz on the wedding!!!

agree with this route. we would come from Fullerton though, so it was the 91W to the 5N. the rest of the route was the same. we tried all the different routes and had the best success with the 5. the most congestion was always around the 5/10 interchange.

we would park in the lot the Hooters is at, although then it wasn't a Hooters. so not i am not sure if you can park there still. unfortunately i haven't been back there since 2006 for a game. it was also a quick straight shot back out to the freeway from that lot. i think it was south on Flower, under the freeway and turn left to get back on the 10

we would leave Fullerton around 5-530 and get to the Stapler around 630-645

If you take 710 north to the 5 then get on the 101 and take the Alameda exit, I've found it quicker than taking the 10. From the Alameda exit, stay on the street that you exit on that runs parallel with the 101 until you hit Broadway (stoplight). Go left on Broadway, right on third. Go through the tunnel and turn left as you come out of the tunnel and the street is flower. Flower will intersect with 11th/12th (staples cross streets) in a mile.

If you did have the fastrak, the 110 is good in the carpool lane but that isn't an option anymore.

Those two streets don't come within two blocks of each other.
However at Trabuco and El Toro there are two Del Tacos.
Alicia and Marguerite
LOL, I just picked two streets that I knew were in both cities.

The Del Taco in the center with the Lamppost and Fresh and Easy is better than the one by the Stater Bros

Herby... you were out by the 241 IIRC

Yeah. I grew up in Coto de Caza. I was in Ladera Ranch for a couple of years when I moved back.

I remember ending up at those double Del Taco's on many nights in high school (although only one is 24 hours), back when life was so simple.

In Santa Ana, right by south coast plaza.

cool huh?

Yah, riznat super cool!

I dunno, its not that cool, we just live in the same general area and visit the same website. I do think its cool that we are both Kings fans though.
