I read this and laughed but it's just so bizarre it might happen.

Vokoun is out indefinitely (and given he's had blood clot issues before, he might decide to retire) for blood clot surgery.
So the Pens have the reg. season coming up in 10 days and need a backup.
So Eklund's 'trusted source' is telling him that the Pens might sign Bryz to a 1 year . min. deal
You think that some Flyers fans didn't like him before, wait until he shows up wearing the uniform of enemy number 1

And it would be just their luck that he'd help the Pens get to the SCF.

Bryz is a competent goalie, don't understand why people view him as a joke. Okay, I understand a bit but it's not on him that freakshow of a team sucked last year. He'd play at Vokoun's level at least and probably chase Fleury out of town.

Bryz in the right system is a good goalie. With that said i don't think pens is the right system for him but if he did succed it would be interesting to see la east fans melt down.

A Dave Tippet system seems to be the only thing he plays well in, very much like Mike "The Hatchet " Smith success has come under the same system.

Bryz wouldn't likely take a 1yr deal, 3 is more likely or 1+1 option.

This has been kicked around a bit but there are other options still available.

Pittsburgh would be more likely to try and grab someone on a waiver claim or go with a guy like Hartzell right now before going to Bryz if he wanted multiple years. Bringing Bryz in also adds way to much media attention that you don't want.

I don't think Bryz would do well on an offense first team. I don't think Pittsburgh's media is anywhere near as bad as Philly's so that might help him.

Hartzell??? The guy they're going with in this situation, is Jeff Zatkoff...

He too will work. That's what I meant by "a guy like Hartzell," a depth guy who will likely ride more pine like a lumberjack in the 30's. Fluery is their horse, good, bad or ugly. Zatkoff or Hartzell or whoever, they'll barely see the ice barring an injury.
