Does it matter? If you go into next season as a rebuild, your next two seasons are write offs anyway. The question isn’t what is Hopkins the next two years. The question is what is Hopkins now? Can you replace his production if you trade him?
Hopkins for 2.5 years with Heyes is worth a ppg 19 yr old and a significant OA upgrade. May as well just pay the pick price for the OA.

Agreed, and already stated that. There is however a chance (SSM) would pay the price to have an outstanding 1-2 at centre born '07
Of course SSM would do that. They’d be robbing Kingston lol. I also never understand why fans of other teams start random convos about other teams they’re not even a fan of, on the thread if a diff team they’re not a fan of.

There’s the Kingston thread. There’s the Soo thread. There’s even an OHL trade thread. You picked the Gens thread…

If Kingston is truly on a quest for a championship, then Hopkins has to be on the table. I think Hopkins has more value than any of the ‘08s potentially available (Challenger, Blonda, O’Donnell, Smith, and Zhilkin).

The SSM example is actually pretty good. I think Hopkins+Heyes+Velliaris +2nd+3rd could get Allard and Gibson. That still leaves Kingston with more than enough to add two more bodies.

Miedema - Guindon - TRADE (McCue)
Battaglia - Allard - Soto
Pickle - McNamarra - Uronen

Pie - Gibson
Burns - Williamson
McGowan - Uens

If they only use draft picks, they cannot get there IMO. That is a really good top 6 up front and a really good top 5 on the back end. They’d still have some assets to add some depth if they really wanted to. Battaglia would need to go next year in the rebuild.

I am not saying they have to do this but if they truly feel they have a shot and they are confident with the the right moves, I really think this is the path.

Close to a ppg, 2 way, very well liked(which is very important as they can’t go for someone like musty who could throw the room off) only 17 and still VERY raw.

Next year when he puts on another 10-15 lbs probably, work’s more on offensive skills he will be breaking out again for 80+ points probably after falling in the 55-68 range likely this year. I’ve heard it a billion times here- it’s a 19 year olds league. When he is 19 he will for sure be among the best in the league- trade him then and keep him on the team this year and next.

If I had to pick 5 untouchable players- he would be on that list and probably #2 after Battaglia

Lol with all this talk of Kingston (without reading) I assumed this was just the Kingston thread.
