He should, I doubt he does though. As we said, prior history with Team Canada factors in and Marrelli doesn't have any. He didn't even get invited to U17s somehow

Yeah but when someone punches through the mud, they will give an opportunity.

It will come down to the other options to be honest.

Hey GU. No word on Wang yet. Guess he’s in a tough spot to make a decision with mom owning that team. Love to see him with better competition. I’m sure the scouts would too.

I agree. I don’t see it this year even though he’s had a very strong year. And then people will go on and on about how it’s unbelievable he was cut like they always do with a few players.

I do think he gets invited but doesn’t make it.

Marrelli plays the style Cameron appreciates. I can definitely see him get a fair shake.

probably 2-3 D from the W & Q leagues; plus Dickinson, Bonk, Schaefer, and lot of other really good OHL options

Could be unrelated but King just traded for a defenceman today. Replacing Wang for when he commits to the Gens this week?? Hopefully
IIRC, that's Xu, who was at Trenton. He was drafted by the Kitchener Rangers even though he made it clear he was going the NCAA route (Harvard). W the NCAA rule change, he likely will end up in Kitchener

Something is still not making sense to me.

Why did King seek out Wang's friend (XU) that played with him on North York in the GTHL if Wang is getting called up to Oshawa like some think?

If anything you would think they were reunited to be together.
I don't see why they would buy him from Trenton so they could be together if they were both being seperated right away.
Maybe (Mom) bought his buddy so he would stay for the season in King.

I don't know. King Rebellion is owned by Wang's mum, so she calls the shots.

All I know is that Xu was drafted as a highly touted D by Mackenzie, Rangers GM, even though he committed to Harvard.

If Xu has pro hockey aspirations, time with the Kitchener Rangers would be better for him than time with the Rebellion.

Maybe the decision for Xu coming over was pre-NCAA rule change. Or it could be something as simple as Wang and his mum wanting to get ice time with another Beijing born high ranked D or of they're buddies.

Would be weird for your friend's mom to trade for you then a week later you screw her over and leave for the OHL. That is what makes me think he wouldn't going to Kitchener until next year.

Not sure if I was supposed to say this or not but was told Wang is practicing with the Gens this week and then making his decision after that. Prior to the agreement if you spent longer than 24 hrs with the OHL team you'd lose your eligibility but obviously that's no longer a concern

Strangest game I've seen in a while. Brantford generated nothing at 5-on-5 the entire night and win 5-4 lol. 4 powerplay goals is crazy. Then 3 first rounders combine to get 0 shots on net in the shootout for the Gens. Chalk that up to a weird game and go get a win tomorrow night, albeit down 3 players now

Five shootouts in one night… all won by the home teams.

Extremely disappointing loss - - it’s inexcusable to blow a three goal lead halfway through the 3rd period on the road against a division rival. Totally wasted a magnificent effort by Cal Ritchie.

Yet another horribly undisciplined penalty from Harrison Franssen cost them the game. I was commenting at the game last week about how many dumb penalties Franssen is taking.

I have no idea what the brain trust thinks they see in Franssen, but at this point they’re going to have to get him out of the line up because he’s doing more to hurt the team than he is to help the team.

What'd you think of D'Amato lazily going offside and taking a goal off the board (for the 2nd time his season)? Seems like a big moment in a game that ended up tied after regulation that took away a Gens goal

BUT HE'S THE PP QUARTERBACK! How dare you speak ill of our best OA! You should be thankful we have him on our team.

That was the rumour. But Smith's agent is also the agent for Barlow, Danford, and Sennecke. So could see him talking the Smith family into a move if it's to a team who's traditionally run well and giving those players the best run possible this year. Will be interesting to see what happens.

He's also the agent for Luchanko (and Rasmus Kumpulainen, which is why he went to the Gens last year)
It’s also possible that Smith and his agent had positive discussions with other teams before the draft and if those teams came around to take a kick at the tires it could change things.

Who’s buying the remaining top OAs? How high could prices get in a bidding war between Brampton and Kingston for Allard, Misajelic, and Swick?
I’ve heard Kingston attached to the Soo since the offseason. I’ve been pronging away at it all year. Gibson, Allard both make sense for Kingston as well.

Terrible penalty killing.. they need to figure that out fast cause so far this year that has been their downfall.. they controlled the game last nite 5 on 5.

O’toole finding out last night there is always someone tougher, ouch those punches to the forhead are going to sting for a few days he was hurting after
I find the anonymous hfboards accounts are always the toughest ones! Holmes was clearly told or realized himself that if he doesn’t drop his gloves and start throwing punches before O’Toole even knows he’s doing that, he’d have no chance. Speaks to the reputation O’Toole has as a heavyweight in the league.

It looked really good the last 2-3 weeks prior to last night

Allard and Gibson do make sense for Kingston, trading Hopkins does not. How would that work; Allard, Gibson, Mignosa in exchange for Heyes, Hopkins, picks?

I agree. Time and time again I’ll say it- they won’t trade Hopkins unless it’s for a guy who could be back next year (Luchanko and Mews) and they could ship those guys off to recoup picks. Only thing is though I’m not sure it gets done without a ‘08 1st.

Would be a MASSIVE mistake trading away the guy that will be leading the team the next 2 years after we lose everyone next year.

There won't lilkely be an '08-1st available for trade worth anywhere near the value of Hopkins

Does it matter? If you go into next season as a rebuild, your next two seasons are write offs anyway. The question isn’t what is Hopkins the next two years. The question is what is Hopkins now? Can you replace his production if you trade him?
