And don’t take what I said as an insult or anything like that. That wasn’t the intent. The whole point of this forum is to discuss these topics. Sometimes predictions are part of the discussions and they extend the discussions further. When it is a pure prediction, it isn’t often that people are exactly correct.

Donnie comes across as pretty rough around the edges but I personally don’t mind that. I can understand why some find it infuriating but some people are a bit different than others. No big deal. I try to concentrate on the substance of the message and less on the delivery. If it is an interesting topic or maybe a topic I’d like to debate, I will engage.

We don’t need to agree to have a good debate. I know many posters over time have disliked me (even many 67’s fans), mostly for holding opposing views and thinking those opposing views are more like trolling but it isn’t often I troll. I try to back it up with some sort of logical explanation. Sometimes (not often! LOL), it turns out I am wrong. I paid @ScoutLife4 $100.67 last year! I won a similar bet the previous year with a Petes supporter but didn’t get paid. C’est la vie! I don’t really care.
Can confirm this man pays his debts / is a man of his word.
I do intend to give you a chance to win that back this season somehow.
See what we can work out as the season starts.

Yes. As soon as we have a better sense of the lineups teams have more secured, if there is something we disagree on, we can definitely make a wager to make the season a bit more interesting. I just sense we are a lot more closer in opinion this year than last year.

I realize critical thinking and logic are beyond the depth of some people.

If someone just says “the score was 5-1” there’s ZERO context.

It might appear to be a blowout, but when two goals were into an empty net and the losing team was starting an emergency call up from Junior C in goal it gives context that the simple comment offering nothing but the score was lacking.
No. This is more like someone says the score was 5-1 and you come back to say "No way it was 5-1. Team A had 5 PP's and outshot the other team by 15 shots. They have way more NHL drafted players. Come on guys. Stop regurgitating this score that you got spoon fed. I formed my own score that makes logical sense."

So essentially - if someone tells you 1+1 = 2, you refuse to believe it until you see that person write a mathematical proof?

Using your example - if someone tells you the score was 5-1 - do you not believe the score was 5-1 until you understand the full context of the game? The context of a Jr C call up in net absolutely provides more information to the statement - of course it allows the reader to have a deeper understanding of the situation, but it doesn't nullify the original statement - the fact is the score was 5-1. Why was it 5-1? Well that's because of the Jr C call-up and empty netters - but the score was still 5-1.

In these cases - people that have been vetted by mods here have information, and since they willingingly admit it's not their information since (I assume) no one here is Roger Hunt or Dale DeGray - they don't have that context.

Everyone other than the two GM’s that make the trades are regurgitating information. The only difference is how many degrees of separation are between the GM’s and the ones making the posts.

I appreciate those that provide information. I also appreciate those that provide cunning insight on different aspects of the league and its day to day results etc. We can have both. They don’t have to be mutually exclusive to each other.

I know a lot more about the league because of the things people share on here. I appreciate that. I provide my insight and many feel it is valuable as well (some don’t).

while he can post all he wants about how he not impress, sadly for him i dont come on here to impress him, nor do i care if i do.

ill keep being me, he can keep being him, the world will continue to turn
People complaining about it are just miserable.

And like anything nowadays online, there’s always that ignore button or people can just not use the thing. Unfortunately some people cannot comprehend that though.

pretty much the exact reason why I joined this whole HFBoards thing is so I can hear the rumours and discuss topics with rather knowledgeable fans and whoever else. A lot of casual fans in Kingston that don’t know their ass from their elbow when it comes to the OHL.

That's kinda what I always thought stopped engaging the individual. To the point of placing them on ignore. Just cause some of us either know someone close to a team or know someone that is, doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to share for discussion what we hear from our sources. That's like me tell you some news I saw on CP24, I guess that's regurgitation.

That doesn't mean we also can't have an opinion on how the team is managed or what direction we think a team should go.

But when someone's ego gets so bruised that they need constantly insult members of this forum for having a different opinion then them, it just shows how childish some can be here.

I agree, but in all fairness, some of what he said about the Barlow trade value was fair and I think some others misconstrued it and that made the conversation go further down the toilet. I have no issues with flame wars but if we are going to have flame wars we need to ensure those tossing grenades know why they are tossing them. In this case, I believe Donnie was unfairly judged. On other issues? Maybe not so unfairly judged.

People were attributing things he said that he didn’t say. That’s not fair.

I don’t want to belabour the point so I will let it sit here. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail but I doubt they will! I will sit back and enjoy the violence!

Carry on…. :fight:

Agreed, I could argue more but it's not worth the breath.

I'm really just replying to give applause to the emote at the end. Well done.

It’s amusing that you’d use “we” to try and liken yourself to the other wannabe “insiders” here.

Of course Griffin isn’t going to be included in a deal for Barlow. As soon as that ridiculous suggestion was floated, I shot it down immediately and explained why Oshawa would never be dumb enough to include Griffin along with Bedkowski and a half dozen 2nd and 3rd round picks.

It’s almost as ludicrous as someone insisting Oshawa would keep a 3rd line plugger as an OA rather than a top pairing defenceman who quarterbacks their power play.
You stuck on repeat or something?
I don't see any wannabe insiders here.
A few of us work in the industry and get information from it.

Feel free to use the ignore button if it hurts you're feelings seeing us post.

Looks like your man Colby is still in Winnepeg.
In group B with about a dozen in total.

He could still make it back by the weekend .

Do you play Sunday ?

Yup. 3 in 3 weekend. My guess is if he gets sent home and the trade is finalized, we won’t see him until next weekend.

Yeah could be a tough 3 in 3 for Oshawa.
No Danford, Sennecke, Ritchie or Roobroeck. Let alone a pending Barlow.

Yeah it will be a tough test this weekend, good experience for the young guys. I expect Marrelli to play a ton this weekend. Be interesting to see if griffin can carry over his strong play from pre season. We’ve seen some good performances the first two games from the other high end 07 forwards, Nesbitt and Hopkins. The silver lining is last season proved the start of the year is a building block, the last 2/3rds of the season is when the real hockey begins. Of course it’s not ideal to struggle early, but it does build adversity. Kingston looked good last night, but also had 12 PP’s and the Petes defence leaves a lot to be desired.
