Who knows if he'll even be good when he comes back.

The only way you add him is if you pull what Florida did with Hoffman a few years ago. Get a team outside our division to trade for him first (as much retained salary as possible) and then have that team trade him to us (also salary retained) for a higher price.

Not sure if it as much about winning as it is about who has the best "country club" atmosphere and who is paying me the most. Especially for when Nylander is ufa.

Varmalov is the only real viable option who has a proven track record of consistency in the playoffs. If you can’t get him you pretty much have to ride it out and pray. Which is a waste for a team this talented.

my biggest disappointment in the draft in the last 10 yrs was the leafs not finding a way to get Askarov.

Wallstaedt is better and he fell to 20th. That's a bigger disappointment to me.

Fun fact he has a 1st line center who is on pace to break the all time goal scoring record, has a higher GPG pace than Ovechkin, Howe and Gretzky. Think about that.

When you watch this team play with such inconstancy, that ranges so widely game over game, when you watch this coach only win with a lineup that has Marner/Matthews, Tavares/Nylander as your top two lines. That tells you he knows that he cannot change the mix of his team because he knows he will not win. He does not have a high winning % because he is a great coach. He is winning because he has great players.

35-15 with close to the worst goaltending in the league for 2 months, 2 rookies on D, and an overall weak defensive unit.

Keefe deserves to be in the discussion for the coach of the year.

You're right he wouldn't say that but suppose he did, how could the league rip him off?

TBH I'm not sure if the recent crappy play of the goalies is 100% the goalies fault. I remember back in November when Jack was playing on his head, there was a for sure goal going in and Jack stopped it, I thought at the time the Leafs are lucky that Jack was lucky. Jack was hiding the structural flaws in Keefes system for the first 2 months of the season. The differnce between the Leafs and the Habs is Jack Campbells first two months. When I see Rielly, Lilly, Sandin , Dermott all chasing the attacker all around our d-zone I wonder WTF are they doing, is there no defensive structure in Keefes game plan or is it just roll the same lines and hope we can outscore them, cause we sure as shit ain't gonna out defend them.

I see no structure, no purpose , no commitment to defence. Yeah we are a few points out of first but the time has come to replace Keefe with a coach who has a commitment to structure and defence. When you dont know what a team is one game to the next that is a big red flag that the coach or the system or both got's to go.

Keefe has taken a bottom 7 defensive team under babcock and made them a top 10 by both traditional and alternate metrics.

I do and they would definitely know once he starts making calls.
I've never really understood the line of thought that teams or players get their information from press conferences.
 
Honestly I would say get MAF. Trade JT to get cap room and perhaps a defensemen and do whatever you can to get a top pair defensive defensemen. And with whatever you have left, get a pest that will go through walls for the team, preferable with some skill and skating.

..because comparing teams years apart with vastly different lineups makes sense .. jebus some people ... if your trying to make a point , perhaps comparing an UNEMPLOYED coach to Keefe probably works more against you than for you....;) just saying ... hey if you like inconstant effort and teams that always exit in the 1st round ... that's on you ...
