Options in Goal moving forward?

Bo Horvat?

And that was for a worse goalie.

There have been plenty of trades, but the reason for what you're describing is because teams simply don't trade their elite goalies, they keep them to maintain their competitiveness.
Schneider was considered a 'franchise' goalie when he was traded, and the value was questioned even then, as everyone expected Luongo to be the goalie traded (for a 1st plus, plus), but, Lou does what Lou wants, and he thought he had the next Brodeur and he was dealt for a pick, not a player ...with a different GM, the pick could easily have been Nichushkin, or Morin. ...they got lucky with Bo, and Lou made a bad decision and injuries killed Schneider's career

i guess today's comparable would be Oettinger or Swayman, though they have far less hype than Schneider did

whats the knock on Keith Petruzzelli? His stats seem pretty good everyplace he has played, and he's still young, but, somehow he isnt seen as a top goalie prospect?

Shitty site for rumors I know, but talking about Francouz being available if the Avs were to get Fleury. Francouz would be huge.

Francouz would be worse than Andersen was here. Francous is overrated.

MAF, Thatcher Demko, Spencer Knight, Joey Daccord are the present and future elite goalies in the NHL not on the Leafs. Woll and Campbell are fantastic. Jack is in a slump. Even Belfour Cujo and Potvin went through those

Go find the future goalie. I have no problem with Campbell and Mrazek for this season, or even the next year or two. But we need a long term plan.

I wanted them to move up and draft Askarov so badly. He's apparently struggling a bit this season, I wonder if Nashville would move him.

Agreed, Freddie was the lesser goalie in every playoff series he played with the Leafs. Why do people suddenly think he is the answer?

With that logic Matthews was the lesser center in every playoff series, why do people suddenly think he is the answer?

Andy had enough quality starts in every series but one to win the series by himself, in one series he had 5 quality starts.

MAF would be terrible for us. He’s fat and away in the downside of his career and expensive af.

Varmalov is the only real viable option who has a proven track record of consistency in the playoffs. If you can’t get him you pretty much have to ride it out and pray. Which is a waste for a team this talented.

my biggest disappointment in the draft in the last 10 yrs was the leafs not finding a way to get Askarov.

He's playing behind the team that Mrazek has a .923 behind last season. Seems that goaltending is a little harder in Toronto than Carolina, no matter what the stats say. Andersen is better than Mrazek and Campbell but he also has a tendency of being a bit undependable. He rarely stood on his head and won games by himself for Toronto and he never had the second effort type saves. We should have went all in on Demko when he was rumored to be available as Canucks tried to sign Markstrom. Though...who knows how available he really was. All I know is I wanted himThen, because of his pedigree and combination of athletism and size.

This doom and gloom market would run Demko out of town as well lol.

had a .928 SV% last year and has a .911 this year on a Chicago team that got caved in defensively before the coaching change.

He also had a .918 in the playoffs last year. He's old but still a great tandem option.
