Options in Goal moving forward?

Campbell will be fine... he looks like hes getting back on track ......
i mean the way TO plays in front of goalies, the goalie will always have shitty stats. I mean with a tiny improvement in tonight's game he is basically back to where he was at the start of the year. Again, people ill point at stats but he was very solid today.

IMO one of the major issues with the leafs is that the forwards need to play more responsible, everyone wants to pad their stats when leading instead of playing a more risk free game. ... why are they constantly giving up odd man rushes when your leading in a game is beyond me ... cmon guys ....

He got no help from the team defense tonight. I thought overall, Jack wasn't too, too bad. He gave his team a chance to win and shut the door at the end.

So many ways to make it work. Just a couple of ideas:

- For every dollar over the cap, you pay another dollar into revenue sharing
- If you go over the cap, you forfeit draft picks depending on how much you go over (1st rounder if $10M+, 2nd rounder if $5M+ etc.)
- If you go over the cap, you have to share your arena with the Coyotes

30 teams all of a sudden start spending to the cap floor and not a penny more Lol.

As for your other ideas - it'll never work because the same governors who are willing to take their team's payroll up to $100 million due to absorbing injured contracts, don't want money outside of the system

Francouz off the board.
Assuming Colorado re signs kuemper and fleury goes back to Pitt that worst case.

Barring any trades teams that will need goalies are

1.) arizona
2.) buffalo
3.) chicago
4.) edmonton
5.) Toronto
6.) Washington?

Of those Toronto is a only guaranteed playoff team with a clear spot at 1. Washington has vanacek in a pair.

The ufa goalies aee

Fleury. Keumper. Campbell. Husso. Forsberg. Koskinen. Holtby.

Looks like we should probably get pick of who we want? Would we go for husso?

We knew goaltending was a concern in Leaf land already before Jack Campbell gets hurt and is out for a couple weeks. Kyle Dubas has said he believes in his two guys, but is there a chance he goes out and gets somebody as insurance?

Pierre LeBrun: I can't guarantee you they will go out and trade for a goalie, what I can tell you is they are doing their due diligence on the marketplace looking at a few goaltenders. Among them, we believe the Leafs have talked to Chicago about Marc-Andre Fleury. Again, this is more of a due diligence type, this is not a serious conversation at this point, but it does tell you that the Leafs are leaving no stone unturned. Marc-Andre Fleury is going to call his own shot - we've talked about this - and I don't believe that Toronto is on his short list of preferred teams. And by the way, I don't think the Washington Capitals - another team that's phoned Chicago - is on Marc-Andre Fleury's list of destinations. So, there's no guarantee Fleury gets dealt at all, but at this point it doesn't look like the Leafs would be a fit for Marc-Andre Fleury.

Chris Johnston: With Fleury not guaranteed to be on the move, it actually shapes up as a rather thin goaltending market when we look towards the trade deadline and that could leave the Arizona Coyotes with a decision on a goaltender they like. That's Karel Vejmelka. He's in his first NHL season this year. He's been one of the feel good stories for the Coyotes. As I mentioned, they like the player. They've engaged in extension talks on a new contract with his agent, but if they don't get a new deal leading up to the deadline, they are going to have to look at potentially moving him because he has less than a $900,000 cap hit and he's also one year away from potential unrestricted free agency, his arbitration rights as well. So that's a contract situation to watch because if he's not signed, he could be dealt.

MAF (50%) and deHaan and a 4th for a 1st, 3rd, Mrazek, Dermott or Holl.
deHaan is a good #4 to pair with Muzzin to protect leads. Currently badly miscast on Chicago’s top pairing.
The 1st should be 25 or higher. Not extremely value able.
The 4th and 3rd each way just moves Chicago up about 10 spots.
With Mrazek (and Campbell) gone and MAF off the books Dubas gets another shot at picking a goalie in the off-season.
I’m hardly a Leaf fan but if the big 4 step up. A good defensive Dman and solid goalie greatly upgrades their chances.

Hard to imagine Leafs management in not concerned at this point with its goaltending.

You do know we're talking about Kyle Dubas here right? He probably has some spreadsheet somewhere that tells him that their CHFRQT% is expected to rise and that will likely lead to the Cup, so he will follow it religiously.

That five hole and weak ass positioning Mrazek has will completely annihilate his spreadsheet.
