Obviously 4 games in we all shouldn't panic as much as we have been, but the team has played absolutely awful, there hasn't been one bright spot so far. If this continues through the year is a rebuild really an option? If it is I think Henrik should get traded. Regardless of how he plays this year he is still going to want 8+ mil. I think he should be gone and he could bring in tons of young talent. But maybe a rebuild isn't the right option? Maybe just a revamp like the Sharks did. Who knows. But if rebuilding is an option this is my list of who goes and who stays:

Goes- Lundqvist, Girardi, Stralman, Del Zaster, Pyatt, Asham, D Moore, Boyle, Richards, Pouliot, MZA, Brassard, Dorsett, maybe Nash.

Stays- McDonagh, Staal, Callahan, Stepan

Just my thoughts. Still not yet in full panic mode.

I think you're lying. I think you, like many other posters, are in fact panicking.

R E L A X

Part of me is panicked, but not all of me yet. When are you gonna panic? Because after pre season everyone said don't panic its just pre season. But what now? When are we allowed to panic?

Not in panic mode

Keeps only 4 players

we don't need a rebuild.. we have players.. we just need more top end talent..

honestly kreider, miller, some young gun in AHL.. needs to come up and shine..

Callahan, stepan, hagelin, dubi, aa etc have came in to the nhl and we're basically 20g scorers and 40-50pt players..

that= depth and helps with lines.. without having any young guys up right now or through the ranks and be consistent and put up similar numbers we're going to hurt!!!

its way way way to early.. but imagine we have a **** year and this gongshow continues.. we get a top 5 picK, maybe even top 3? would maybe solidify our team for now and future..

i think buyout richards next year.. i could slats making a push for a number 1c, and i can see nash talking Thorton to come here for a 2yr-3yr deal and play with nash..

MZA/Kreider-Thorton-Nash
Hagelin-Stepan-Callahan
X-Brass-x

we're not in panic mode.. we dont need a rebuild but we need youth in the a to come up and solidify roles and make impacts like our previous/current guys have

When am I going to panic?

Game 7, when we're down 1 after 2 periods. Then I'll panic. Until then I'm going to maintain some form of composure -- the type of composure people who've been watching professional sports for a few decades develop.

1 thread you have people whining about Lundqvists pads. Another thread it's fire AV. Another thread we have people questioning our Captain.

First you start a post saying you're not in panic mode. Then you follow it up saying you are panicking a bit.

Not in panic mode

Keeps only 4 players

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Thats if there was a rebuild smartass

The only people thinking about a rebuild, are people who are panicking. 4 games into the season.

A full rebuild is not the right move but we will se some changes for sure regardless how this season ends.

It's early but a lot of the kids in the AHL are playing well so that will solve many problems. If all of Kristo/Kreider/Miller/Lindberg and of course Fast who is already up stay on board then that's very good for 2nd and 3rd line options (and PP time).

I'd like to keep Girardi and Stralmn but if they bounce then Connor Allen and McLIrath can slide in.

Cally is a no brainer but it'll cost over $6 million to keep him.

If Henrik does decide to leave then there's only one option in my mind. Halak. That guy is very good. DO NOT go after Ryan Miller in any way shape or form.

Other UFAS......I'd do the Richards buy out for Thornton exchange but he's gonna cost mucho dinero and he's not gonna be that productive.

Vanek would be nice too.

This team is gonna look very different as soon as December if the kids in the AHL keep playing well.

i dont want a rebuild, but if we were to rebuild you dont keep staal or cally. staal could be traded to the canes for jeff skinner+ or ryan murphy++. cally could fetch a lot and hes getting older. i also wouldnt let brassard go. i think this team could surprise people on here if we just wait instead of blowing it up and going after ekblad and mcdavid

Here's how you work towards fixing the team without blowing the whole thing up

Buy out Brad Richards
Lindberg, Kreider, and Miller are ready next year. Doesn't matter if someone in the organization disagrees, they're playing for the New York Rangers through their mistakes and youth.
Pick up a cheap UFA that adds some top 6 talent, such as Linus Omark (you could prob get for league minimum or close to it)
Trade MDZ for a draft pick.
Use new cap space from Richards/MDZ trades for a guy like Steve Downie/Winnik.
Dare I say it....sign Scott Gomez to a 1 yr/600k deal?

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Omark-Brassard-Callahan
Miller-Lindberg-Kreider
Winnik-Gomez-Fast

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-Stralman
Moore-McIlrath(hopefully)/whoever else

Do I love this team/expect people here to love it? Not really. I do see it as an improvement over what we have, however.

The Rangers are in a similar quagmire than last year.

Last year it because clear it was Torts or Gaborik. While without the Gaborik trade the Rangers do not make the playoffs last year, They lost their best offensive player at the trade deadline, and fired the coach that wanted him out anyway. So really they took a half measure when they should have taken a full measure and lost both of them.

This year, you have major UFAs like Lundqvist, Girardi, Brassard and Callahan. This creates a clear dilemma. Unless you are watching a different team than me, the Rangers do not have anything resembling the personnel to run AV's system. So do you trade for players to fit AV's system, or do you fire AV and acquire players that can play the style of hockey the Rangers are effective at. Not only that but AV has not done enough of a job to implement what the team needs to do, and nobody is working hard enough. Torts had his fault but you could not fault him for not working hard enough, and being constantly unprepared.

Right now, the Rangers are a team without identity. Without identity, they have no compass, therefore they do not have an idea of who to acquire because they don't know who fits what. If the Rangers go all-in on AV, then they are punting this season. AV doesn't strike me as the right kind of coach to do a full on rebuild with.

Lundqvist walks if the Rangers keep taking a step back and if they need to trade him as a result you NEED to know what pieces you would need to bring back in to fix the team. Same with Girardi to an extent. Without identity there is no course as to who to acquire.

If this situation is handled poorly and incorrectly, the team is set back at least 5 years.

I'd rather pay Hank 8 mill a year than watch him play for someone else.

Come on, even teams ready to do a thorough rebuild don't blow it up nearly that much. Who's gonna play?

I mean, it's important to plan for the future, but, then again, it's the Rangers. YOLO

Pretty much our whole team are UFAs in the summer. You can't trade them and expect much value back

That's the real problem with the team this year.

There are too many guys right now trying to play for their next contract. We all know players tend to play differently in the last year of a contract. Gripping the sticks a little tighter, being a little more individualistic, checking their stats a bit more...

I think the best move this team could make is for Sather to take a few guys aside and try to sign a few contracts before December. Even if it's just 1-2 year deals.

There's no way a team should be looking at 10 UFAs and 5 RFAs on the roster at one time. There's no way to build a cohesive unit on the roster, let alone try to implement a new system with a new coaching staff.

I'd rather pay Hank 8 mill a year than watch him play for someone else.

If Hank doesn't want to be here that is irrelevant. And it would be ignorant to think he is a lock to resign. Especially if he doesn't like where the AV regime is taking the team.
