Said the Canadiens for the get go and am going to stay with that guess. I do have a wild card and that's the Rangers, they want to make a splash looks like they are going to be moving some pieces and what better splash than Nik

I picked Pittsburgh because Dubas is aggressive and makes confusing additions to an aging roster. Ehlers would be a first line player there for sure

It's odd isn't it?

Every other sport the stars are just lapping up the attention and fame. Hockey players get noticed at dinner and their entire world falls apart.

I don't get it either, I can't think of another sport where the players are this gun shy of the celebrity status that comes with the job and the money. They all want bigger pay cheques but don't seem to want to do the things the athletes in other sports do to grow the revenue streams.

Yeah like guys like Messi and Mbappé probably can't go to any major city on this planet without being recognized and they live for big moments and hockey players wilt like old lettuce when the going gets tough or they get noticed in public.

And I'd like to think that we are relatively modest when it comes the leaving people to f*** alone when they aren't working. You get noticed more sure, but I'd like to think we aren't castigating you for a poor performance.

When you think about it, hockey is in a very weird place among sport culture. It's absolutely massive in some markets and barely more than a blip in others. Like I'd imagine the 3rd string QB on the Tarheels probably gets recognized more in public more than any hockey player in Raleigh.

A lot of other big sports don't really have that opportunity. So you kinda have to wonder if it was the case that you could go to a different market in your sport and just blend in like everyone else would more players be open to that in other sports?

It's crazy too because they want more money and yet more fame and attention brings with it more money such as sponsorship deals and so on and it helps grow the sport.

Like I understand not everyone wanting that kind of attention but pro sports players should be seeking it rather than running from it.

In terms of desirability, for wingers it will be

1. Marner
2. Ehlers
3. Boeser

Ehlers will have a few suitors for sure, so I guess it will boil down to what's most important to him... Role? Chance to win? Money? Anonymity?

With what Dreger said earlier about wanting to leave the rink and disappear, MTL would be out of the running immediately. That place is the exact opposite of that. If TO is looking for a Marner replacement, they'd be out too, based on that
