Player Discussion Oliver Wahlstrom now waived by Bruins

As for Wahlstrom- he's not afraid to shoot the puck which makes him really stand out among his teammates. The Bruins need that desperately so I say put him on what should be a scoring line, putting him on lines 3-4 is just stupid. Also given the lack of structure/discipline on this team I don't think anyone should be surprised at his struggles. When you're not sure where to go, what to do and when to do it that shows. IDK about his knee issue whether he's still trying to regain form or not.

Wahlstrom will be around next season with a fresh start. Bruins think he can get his act together and is worth the time to see if that can happen.

Guys done nothing aside from take a bunch of stupid penalties and tuck a garbage goal.

Exactly.

I was all for taking a flier on the kid, because worst case was exactly what just happened. Albeit they let it go for a lot longer than most wanted it to.

And I agree, time to see what the kids have. Farinacci, Merk, Lysell. And this time longer than a quick dip in the pool if you will, please.

Guy sucked on the Islanders. Never should have been a Bruin. Hopefully Lysell or Merkulov get a chance

Yeah I like that they tried to pick up a younger, ex-top draft pick to see if he could figure it out here. Oh well, no sleep lost over it, just hope they give a guy in Prov the same leash he just got

It made a lot of sense at the time. And he was an extra body to play when they hopefully start selling off pieces in the next week here.

He just made too many negative plays and took too many offensive zone penalties to justify being here. If he goes unclaimed maybe he finds his game in Prov who knows. Feels like a lost player though.

Plenty of roster spots for kids in prov now with Freddy, Wahlstrom, McAvoy down. The thing that gives me pause is Sweeney mentioned the playoff push that Providence is doing right now and I wonder if he thinks that is better for the kids than playing here? I think I’d rather know if they can show some flashes at the NHL level.
 
They took a chance he'd be something being local but this was over due. You can see why the islanders gave up on him. He's a little bit of everything but he's AHL level not NHL level. He wasn't particularly good at anything.
