Friedman: Oliver Bjorkstrand & Andre Burakovsky

Bjorkstrand definitely will have a crowded market. He fits pretty much every contender if the Kraken are willing to retain. On pace for another 55-60 point year and 1.5 years left is an ideal contract length.

Bura on the other hand makes just as much, has 2.5 years left and is on pace for 8 goals and 24 points and has been on a steep downward slide for several years. This seems like a heavily negative value unless fully retained…he’s also not a guy adding much if he’s not producing offense.

What about it someone was interested in Bjork with no rentention? Wink wink nudge nudge.

Id love OB on the Canucks

EP

for

Beniers
OB
My God that's terrible for the nucks. I get that EP rubs a lot of people the wrong way with even nuck fans, he's clearly not a 100% and if this was JT or Quinn a lot more slack would given.

In fact the last game was the first game this season where he looked like his old self. He was quicker mentally and physically, wasn't afraid to try skilled puck plays and engaged especially in the dzone.

His two way game is star quality and I will be shocked even despite his slow start if he doesnt cack 85+ points and going forward especially if we could get a playmaker on his wing, he will get back to his 100 point production.

Beniers is only four years younger and after one good season has declined the last two years. EP has the resume to back it up, is a beast on D and despite everything is still out producing him.

Trading EP will be the next Cam Neely and all this trade talk is media generated bullshit backed up by Allvin saying never say never about a trade which is a response any GM answering honestly would give.
Teams I'm sure are calling about lots of nucks hoping to capitalize on the drama but any EP trade would literally have to be a massive offer that plugged multiple holes and while downgrading at C would make the team significantly better overall. Since I think that would be a very tall order, especially mid-season Its just highly unlikely.

It really baffles me how shortsighted and overdramatic so many nuck fans can be, nevermind actually buying into a bunch of media hens clucking for clicks.

Yeah, something has to give with the Kraken.

Burakovsky… Maybe the Oilers will look into him given his connection with Knoblauch, and Kane being out.

What does "hearing names" actually mean here?

I can imagine teams would love to add Bjorkstrand, and so would ask.

I can also imagine Seattle would love to get rid of Burakovsky, and so would offer.

That doesn't amount to much imo. Now, Seattle might be pressured to shed some cap space, but only if Eberle plans to return this year. Any recent word on Eberle's recovery?

Burakovsky has negative value. We will either need to take a similar contract back or add a significant sweetener. I can't see Francis doing the latter.

Bjorkstrand should have pretty good value with or without retention.

As far as I am concerned the Kraken should keep the kids, Beniers, Evans, Wright and Kakko. Dunn, Montour, and Larsson should be left on D as the vets. Daccord at G. Other than that, move anyone who can be moved.

Both look to be underperforming their contracts. But Bjorkstrand is very interesting. With Kane sounding like he’s on LTIR, the Oilers could make it fit. But they have higher priorities than scoring Winger.

Would you trade like a 3rd and Burakovsky for Perron?

Perron makes $1.5 mill less and has a one year shorter term.

I don’t think Bjorkstrand is underperforming his contract at all. Maybe you’d be worried if there were 3-4 years left but for 1.5 years you are getting a guy who is going to score 20+ goals, 50-60 points no matter what role he is asked to do and provide excellent two-way energy at age 29-30.

He’s definitely a highly positive asset even at full contract. Now if you retain - you open up the list of suitors greatly and maximize return. So I’m sure if he is truly on the market, the Kraken probably need to consider that.
