I was looking the Jamie Benn hockeyDB page and saw that he played with Colin Long in 2008-09 with the Kelowna Rockets. Long was 22! How is that even possible? He then played in the AHL as a 23 YO in the 2009-10 season...

So... Is he the oldest player ever to play in the CHL ? If not, who is?

What is the rule?

Be less that 21yo when the season starts?

Have your 20th birtday in the calendar year that the season starts?

The record would need to be held by a player born on Jan 1st (or close to that) and play for a team on a deep playoff run or Memorial Cup participation.

Simply goes by birthyears.

So this year, overagers are 99 born. next year they're 00 born. year after they're 01 born. You get it

For example Jacob Neveu born Jan 12 1998, won Mem Cup on May 26 2019. He may not be the oldest but he’s probably close within 10days max.

no one older than 21 ever played in the chl im pretty sure. also Meireles is a jan 1st birthday and is playing this year so at worst he is tied for oldest.

Adam Dennis was born Feb 8th, played as an overager. He's the oldest I could think of off the top of my head.

Edit. Richard Pitirri.

Richard Pitirri Hockey Stats and Profile at hockeydb.com

Knights lost in the finals, so he would've been about 21.5 at his last game.
Thomas Beauregard was born Feb 9th 1986 and played the entire 2006-07 season as an overager. He’s the player who taught me to severely discount what a majorly overage player does in junior. Him and Colton Yellow Horn who was even older when he tore up junior.
