or like I say move it to a topnine format. Pods is a decent worker ant with pace and body. Stronger player physically, than I had realized. Took awhile for me to wash the Nuck stink off him but I like him now. He just doesn't have hands. Line works because of the component parts. kap is making sweet cycles and service to Drai every game. Almost every shift. Kap is the cheapest option skilled 2nd winger I've ever seen here. Kudos to management picking up this one. Would still rather have Holloway on the line but the Kapanen find is putting a smile on my face.
Kapanen over Holloway every day of the week from what I've seen of Kapanen. Don't understand why he wascwaived.

That said Arvidsson fit with Drai real well just was a bit snake bitten scoring.

We have too many good players, unbelievable.

If Skinner can get going hands down best group in the league.

Good to squeeze what they can out of Kapanen but he’ll wash out like he always does, hes a flawed player.

Also, Led Zeppelin sucks

I've always wondered how people with this level of intelligence manage to get through life without accidentally drinking bleach due to the pretty colors on the label...
I don’t accidentally drink bleach, I drink it on purpose and have over many years in slowly increasing amounts until my body has built up an immunity, like I’ve done with so many other toxins so that my wife can never poison me, I secretly put arsenic on everything I eat. It takes a strong mind to force this type of evolution in body, unlikely to be achieved by a child like mind stimulated by such things as video games and corny AI avatars.

Just flipping through the thread but can’t believe the Zeppelin trashing going on in here. Makes me sick to hear anyone trashing these legends.
Music is like art man lol. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I listen to most of everything if it sounds good. Rap, Hip hop, Pop, R&B, Rock music, etc. Country, not at all. I'm over 35 yrs old. Right now a guy named Kendrick Lamar is looked at as "the guy" etc and I can't really stand his music. His voice and music bores the hell out of me, but people would call me crazy for saying that.

Meh. Wasn't Ceci bringing him down. Nurse is playing different.

In the last 15 games I can't recall a single needless reverse rim or throwaway icing.
He also is making dekes behind his own net.

He's playing smarter
Nurse is playing different partially because he's playing alongside better skaters that don't handle the puck like a grenade and, thus, lessening the load on Nurse to do all the heavy lifting with puck carrying. He's always played better with puckmovers. With Nurse less is more so the less he has the puck and the chance of him making a bad decision the better.

Nurse also seems to be in a better headspace now, you can see the joy he's playing with now, but the change in D partners has certainly had a profound effect on his game as well IMO. Ceci was a fine player but it was just a bad match with Nurse.

I mean it's not even necessarily better puck movers, it's anyone that supports the breakout.

Ceci always just chests up the ice like he's Taylor Hall.

I know you meant to say "cheats", but "chests up the ice" reminds me of Nail "chased by a swarm of bees" Yakupov.

Fair enough but if someone said Culture Club sucks I’d back them to the ends of the Earth. Going after Led Zeppelin is just stupid.

Lol the people in here who were saying the Oilers weren’t even a playoff team early on
Craig button said the oil were not a contender last year after the bad start and he said it again a week ago. People are idiots .even those so called experts on tv.

Where are all the posters who said this team was trash and not a playoff team after just a few games? Not man enough to admit they are wrong or trolls

We should have taken out Krill

I am tired of our best players getting taken out by other teams scrubs. Time for pay back.
Wasn't that why Emberson had the staged fight? Because the Wild wanted someone from the Oilers to step up in response to Caggiula taking out Kaprizov last game? I assume Emberson was the negotiated person because he's a middle weight and Caggiula is back in Bakersfield.

Boldy and Caggs dropped the gloves though....even though it was a short tilt, the guy they wanted to answer the bell did. Sometimes hockey is stupid lol

I like the chemistry forming between Kapanen and Draisaitl already. You can tell Kapanen has the skill and speed to be able to make plays and get in the right spots.

Also did anyone see that very nice long hug Connor gave Derek Ryan on the bench after scoring his first goal of the year? That was quite some captainly love.

Ceci's terrible. There's a reason why he's in the bottom of metrics out of all sharks defenseman. It's such a relief watching Nurse play without having to want to gouge my eyes out since he no longer has a defensive partner that wasn't able to move/transition the puck cleanly without turning it over in Ceci.

At least he raps better than Kevin Federline.

Disagree. Like I said, he's making better decisions
I'm not advocating for Ceci, but Nurse no look reverse put Ceci in tons of bad positions. Half the time he wasn't even open and Nurse would shove it back at him.
Also, how many times did Nurse have daylight to skate and just tossed it back?
Also, you notice how when he goes low now he's shooting from the half wall? Years past it was skate down low and pass to nobody.

He's simply making better decisions. It's not his partner...it's him

He's making better decisions because he doesn't have to compensate for his partner's short comings. He can trust himself, because his partner is more trustworthy.

Addition by subtraction, it's why the entire group has been so solid.

What are you even talking about????? If he ",didn't trust Ceci", then why the living f*** did he constantly no look reverse to him? Why if he trusts his partners now....does he barely pass them the puck and skates it out more?

You're literally saying the opposite of what's really happening

I said if you're not going to click with them on the 2nd line and put them on the bottom 6, then yeah it probably is a waste of cap.

Leon needs to get it going with one of them. That's not the same as "OMG!!! You Hate Leon!!!", like I just insulted a 14 year old girl's favorite boy band.

I like him fine, but in that aspect yeah we need him to click with at least one of these guys because we've made a massive cap commitment to these players. You just can't have a revolving door 2nd line where you have 5/4/3 million dollar players pushed onto your 3rd line because none of them have chemistry with the 2nd line center.

Get that shit figured out. I don't even care how. If you have to staple one of those three to the PP unit 1 so they can feel better about their game, then do that. It's better than the alternative.
This is a MANAGEMENT problem, not a Draisaitl problem. It was management that chose to bring in over-the-hill and/or frequently injured veterans. As far as I know, Draisaitl didn't specifically ask management for those players.

You're also overlooking the fact that it takes time for players to develop chemistry. You don't just thrust two random players together and all of a sudden they're putting up three goals a night at ES. Skinner had three games with Draisaitl before he was yanked off of that wing. Draisaitl was starting to form chemistry with Arvidsson before his injury, so yes, it looked like those two players had clicked.

The way I look at it, Draisaitl has had so many players rotated through his wings that he's never really had adequate time to develop chemistry with any of them. Meanwhile, McDavid has had RNH and Hyman parked with him for how many years now.

He's not playing with Ceci anymore, no one is playing with Ceci anymore, and everyone is playing better.

Kulak is playing like a legit top-4 defenseman and he and Nurse are playing great hockey together. Nurse is playing like a #2/3 defenseman and might be displaying his best all-around game ever.

Stetcher is providing a ton of grit and playing quite well and Emberson is basically a different version of Desharnais (imo) who skates and moves the puck better, without Vinny's size and strength (he's no slouch, but you know)

The players have improved their games, but one guy that was (as people like me were screaming) was a milestone around everyone's necks is on a different team, and also everyone is playing better.

It's not ALL Cody Ceci, but Cody Ceci was clearly part of the problem, him not being here is a significant part of the solution.

I think we was the guy who took a Bouch bomb to the hand.

Makes me wonder if the attack on Bouch was targeted revenge now. Petty and dumb targeted revenge.
Hartman is a general dirtbag, and I don't think he's that smart.

Plus, stuff like that just happens, remember Klefa and the random broken foot lol.

It's an everyone problem, even though the record is not too bad and the team is doing well, like 2/3 of the forward roster are under performing.

I think Hyman is barely on pace for 20 goals himself (last night's "goal" credited to him was hilarious).

The whole team needs to come together and get it going in that regard, it shouldn't be this difficult to find offensive chemistry. I get the feeling if Jeff Skinner was on Vancouver he'd have like triple the shooting percentage and be on pace for 30+ goals.

We need to figure out why that isn't happening here. If it's one underperforming forward, ok, two, alright, but we have currently like 6-7 guys and then we also have Kane who was trending out of the top 6 last year too ... some questions need to be asked.

That and S. Skinner's up and down play are actually the central issues for the team, all the hysteria and crying over how the D was going to collapse because Emberson/Dermott weren't sexy enough names, finding a partner for Nurse, team speed, Corey Perry!, etc. etc. largely have all been fine. Those haven't been problems at all.
