That's only if guys like Skinner and Arvidsson and Kane go to the bottom 6 and actually score goals there, which I'm not that confident of. These guys are complimentary offensive wingers, they need to play with McDavid or Draisaitl to produce to make the salary spent worthwhile.

I don't recall McDavid or Draisaitl ever playing for Carolina, Buffalo, Nashville, or LA when Skinner and Arvidsson were putting up 30 and 40-goal seasons...so why do they HAVE to play with those guys now?

6 points in his last 10 games (no goals but whatever) and a +6. He's morphed into a low event 3rd line center and a good one at that, excellent defensively and can still chip in some offense occasionally. Ideally you want a few more goals from your 3rd line center but he's been a significant outscorer in this strong stretch for the Oilers because he and his line allows virtually nothing defensively..

Henrique isn't getting gravy offensive minutes on a bad team anymore, he's the shutdown center playing a vital defensive role on a very good team and he's been very good at it. People who only look at offensive numbers really don't understand the value of this role.
Brown and Janmark have also been very good despite not putting up big offensive numbers.

Not sure what else people want from these guys. The Oilers have needed a shutdown 3rd line for, what, almost 20 years and now they have one. Very happy with these guys.

Yeah, it seems pretty clear Oilers management want calm, steady hands when McDrai is off the ice. That is what Henrique and his line provides. Plus he's now on PK1 with RNH.

Plus KIlling floor., Can't quit you, Train kept a rolling ect have been perennial covers. So many versions of so many of these songs some of which were very limited recorded tracks in an era where much went unrecorded and was instead copied from live performance. 100's of artists covered the above songs. Maybe 20% ever ended up being recorded covers.


When the Levee breaks is a god example of a track that the original writers would love how it was revisited. As so many artists have done since.

As to Spirit check out 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus with good headphones and maybe some bud. Oh man. I started listening to that when I was 12. You're just never the same after that kind of journey. Spirit were a very unique band with a Jazz rock sound with a Jazz drummer that was Randys stepdad. So much talent in that band. Randy California was playing shows with Hendrix when he was 16. What a tutelage. Every member of that band have been involved in so many other musical projects, bands, or as solo artists. Always in demand.

Zeppelin, was just barely before my time (born '75), but of course I listened to them constantly in the early 90's given their influence on grunge and rock in general. Actually, we started listening to 70's rock in late eighties as we flew in terror from the terrible pop of Rick Astley and Paula Abdul. I often think they are in part responsible for the grunge movement, lol.... teens everywhere stopped buying CDs and started rummaging classic rock vinyl.

Yep. And when Kane and Arvidsson come back he will have more offensive players to work with. i remember when we got rid of Strome cause he wasn’t producing but he was perfect defensively. A third line center that’s outscoring the opposition is a win.

Wonder if it just took longer for him to get rid of the stank from most of his professional coaches wanting him to be a mistake free defensive stalwart. A free skating, agreeive puck moving guy is what Coffey wants.

And when you skate as well as Nurse, that’s what he should be.

Probably because Podkolzin does an insane amount of defensive heavy lifting. Look at how much skating the guy does on an average shift and how much of the play he influences just by being in the area due to his presence.

Been saying this for a while. Podkolzin does a ton of dirty work (every skilled player needs a guy like this on his line), has some legit passing skills and is very positionally sound. His impact goes well beyond the scoresheet. Now, you'd like to see him pot a few more goals but he's been great in his role.
If he and Kapanen keep it up, I'll be very curious to see where Arvidsson and then Kane slot in and where is Skinner's place? Good problem to have, the depth is ridiculous lol.

I agree he is playing smarter but hard to argue that getting moved away from Ceci also wouldn’t have a big impact on his game. Ceci has been one of the worst defenders in the league this year away from Nurse iirc. Looks like Ceci was a complete anchor.

The obvious answer is that we, as a team, don’t drive the lane nearly enough. With our without the puck. The Bruins in particular are relentless at driving down Main Street and funneling pucks that direction. Very disruptive to positional defensive play. Nothing forces a ref to lift his arm more than a guy keeping his feet moving to get behind a D man or back checking winger and forcing him to take him down from behind. Hooks, holds. The current version of the Oilers are on the perimeter too often. This is Arvidssons game and him returning will help. It’ll be a bit better once Kane comes back too.
