Nope. They stole about 6 of his songs and the agreed to add his name to copywrite and pay an undisclosed. Zep went to the matts against Spirit over Stariway

Side by side--

The Crux of Spirits case was that they opened for Zep 3 years prior to stairway being record

its OK to love both bands. I love Spirt too. RIP Randy California. Zep have been plagiarists. In the music business imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Zep had not only seen Spirit play a lot, they'd seen Randy California play with Jimi Hendrix as well. That said Stairway is a classic and Zep borrowed only one part on a song that segues into several parts. On the Spirt song its a track I like but it doesn't do near as much after the similar opening and frankly few people have heard it. Spirit probably got more royalties on that track BECAUSE of Zep. ;)

The thing you're shortselling as well is that Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones feature on playing credits of around 200 recorded songs in the 60's as the most accomplished and in demand session musicians. They were constantly recording and adding to the 60's music scene. There isn't anybody in the music industry that wouldn't tell you that the two are among the best artists ever in the business, and that Bonhan was arguably among best rock drummers.

Arvidsson hasn't produced much on the PP, outside of one year (22-23) his career high in a season is 4 PP goals.

Even in that one outlier year only 10/26 goals were on the PP.

A PP merchant is someone more like RNH, not Arvidsson.
Arvids most impressive year in LA was his first one where vas majority of his pts were EV. But already sign of trouble as he only played 66 games and was injured not available for playoffs. That season he had 41 non PP pts in the 66 games. That was quite good and dynamic. That was before back surgeries.

Next year was a drop off in EV pts that was disguised by his reliance on PP pts. He got only 35EVpts in 77GP falling below .500 EV pts/game. Basically McLeod or Foegele type production outside PP. He had 25PP pts that year to disguise things. The falloff in EV play and production was happening.

Last season arvid missed almost the entire season and I'm not gonna even entertain proration on a player that only completed 17 games. Injured goods. not surprisingly he is still. Would NEVER have landed on this player at this time. 3-5yrs ago? Sure. Not now. I liked Arvid in 22-23 season and in Nashville. Not really since.

Spirit, I have a 2 cd anthology, whenever I play it people ask who it is. Good stuff indeed.
I’ve watched several of those vids where they compare the tracks of spirit/stairway and I don’t hear the similarity at all…jmo
And I’m quite familiar with both bands.

And nothing I like better than playing Led Zep 1 on my turntable…

actually listening to this cd atm:

Or maybe his shooting percentage was just outlandishly low in Edmonton so far?

Even in LA he shot 8.8, 11.4, 10.2 percent for three years, this year he's at 5.3 percent here.

At some point they have to figure this shit out. It cannot be that you have three guys sitting on your roster who all have multiple 30 goal seasons in this league come here and none of them can be played with Leon because "no chemistry".

That's a massive problem if that's the case.

Beautiful win tonight and every one was so good tonight.

Nurse again 23 minutes and 2 assists. He’s got 200 assists.

Bouchard BETTER BE OKAY. He had 3 assists omg I hope that he’s okay. Why aren’t they giving an update?
he had a slight limp and was sore. By all accounts if that's the worst of it it seems like he will likely be okay. But if he misses some games it would be understandable. I take it he will get an mri as well tomorrow when the team flies back to EDM.

Yep. Borrowed a lot. But with their pretty significant reshapings of those recordings. Its like saying The Who borrowed. The Who made the tracks their own as well. Plus KIlling floor., Can't quit you, Train kept a rolling ect have been perennial covers. So many versions of so many of these songs some of which were very limited recorded tracks in an era where much went unrecorded and was instead copied from live performance. 100's of artists covered the above songs. Maybe 20% ever ended up being recorded covers.

When the Levee breaks is a god example of a track that the original writers would love how it was revisited. As so many artists have done since.

As to Spirit check out 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus with good headphones and maybe some bud. Oh man. I started listening to that when I was 12. You're just never the same after that kind of journey. Spirit were a very unique band with a Jazz rock sound with a Jazz drummer that was Randys stepdad. So much talent in that band. Randy California was playing shows with Hendrix when he was 16. What a tutelage. Every member of that band have been involved in so many other musical projects, bands, or as solo artists. Always in demand.

Speaking of borrowed what a trip this version of Hey Joe is:

The problem was soon as the contract was signed, which I said at the time. It was a bad contract, a bad gamble. its not Drais fault. That even a 1M buck player they just picked up is better option also speaks to how bad and overpaid the arvid contract is. If we had healty Arvid in prime I wouldn't be saying that.

If it's one player fine. But when it becomes like three different guys who have scored at the NHL level and none of them can make heads or tails of being a on second line here, I'm inclined to think there is a problem. Then you add in Holloway didn't have great production when he was on that line either.

Here is the thing.. They tried down playing just how much of Willie Dixon stuff they ripped off until they just had to finely admit it. That is one reason they fought to the death over being accused of plagiarising Stairway
okay.....look at the bigger picture?
There was something great about the thieves jim an bob though wasn't there. And a great legacy wasn't there?

Or around the last 6 albums. heh. Most of the cover type of stuff was on first two albums, or on the posthumous Coda release which was basically a collection of long previous unrecorded tracks. Zep were already renowned as one of the best live acts in the world. By the time they got to IV they were the best period and even getting better. Physical Graffiti to me is the peak, and even as a double album no weak tracks.

Its sad for somebody to say they hate Led Zep. Its like Hating the Beatles or Stones or Pink Floyd. If you do its just your loss.

Rewatched the Kapanen goal and his movement and cycling in the offensive zone is pretty good, not to mention he elevated the shot from very close to the net.

There’s probably only one other winger on this team that could do that.

Drai is playing with renewed energy because he knows he actually has wingers to work with this season.

Yeah my question is if anyone ever sticks there. I'm sure they'll try it but as of last year Kane was already getting moved off the top 6 and consistently finding himself on line 3 because he hasn't play well with Connor or Leon for some time ... if it turns out Arvidsson and Skinner also have little/no chemistry with Draisaitl, that becomes a pretty significant problem.
Why does the glass always have to be half empty?

If those guys find the form we know they're capable of the Oilers will be a scary good team. If they don't that's obviously not as good.

Like, sure?
