Leon is playing some of the best hockey I've ever seen him play and Podz has been the perfect compliment for him. He just knows where to be on the ice to make it easier for 29

He's still finding his way here, but the people who are trying to chase this kid out of town or label him a bottom 6 nothing player need to check themselves. This kid can play and there's a reason why Leon and Connor praise him.

They somehow get it done and collect points. THis year they are like the old Wild teams. Boring AF. The most low event hockey team int he league, but they are playing well by not allowing much of anything.

That Lankinen signing was superb. They would be down in the dumps if they did not sign him. He is their MVP next to Hughes
Ugh.

Shoulder or clavicle was my first thought too, but on the bench it seemed like he was lifting his arms freely...

Ugh, this is pointless I suppose. We'll just have to wait and see. The incoming "lower body" or "upper body" injury update will actually be enlightening for once.
With Bouch I don’t even know which I’d prefer. Upper vs lower. Skating isn’t really his strongest suit to begin with. But I’d hate any long term damage to the bouchbomb.

Oilers score the 7-1 goal and they play "Communication Breakdown"

haha. Credit good timing on that one. Good music in Minny. Zep, Sabbath, Rush

To the kiddies here Communication Breakdown was the showstopper on Led Zep first album and a welcome to a band that changed music way back in 68. They were even playing the track before the album got released. Can you imagine hearing this played in 68, still sounds fresh today, 56yrs ago.

68 version played live in Denmark: Gee kids, lets sit around a circle on stage and see a band that will be considered the best band ever for centuries.

Ok grandpa.

I would say Kap It. has been a good complement for Drai. Pods is being some wheels and forecheck. But the cycle and plays and reads happening between Drai and Kapanen. Line has been helped with the Kapanen addition. Gives Drai some more puck skill to play with.

Was thinking the same thing. Which is best case scneario, lower or upper body? We can’t lose the Bouch bombs and shoulder injuries can add up over a career… whereas leg injuries tend to heal and be done with. So probably lower is best case scenario?

Another great pass by Podkolzin tonight, takes the puck and calmly assesses his options, has patience to spring Bouchard for a breakaway (who then in the most Oiler-ey fashion actually passes out of a freaking breakaway, thankfully Draisaitl finishes it as a goal).

Just like last game Podkolzin set up Ekholm for a great look that hit the post.

These are nice, simple, high IQ plays that too many players on this team don't make enough of and it's also why we should be patient with this player. He has game, it will grow if you nurture it.

This is also why Leon and Connor praise this kid, he has the smarts to make plays like this whereas a Puljujarvi would play like a chicken with its head cut off on the ice.

Hehe, I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking the bolded. I was about to scream at my TV when the goal plopped in. Sometimes it's better to be lucky then good I guess, lol.

Who knew that these 2 guys would have chemistry with Drai when it was supposed to be Skinner/Arvidsson

I honestly hope we trade SKinner any time this year. He is too slow. If he had legs, he would be good. Kane will come back and hopefully play well.

Podz makes nice little plays and him and Kapienen know where to be and they both play tough. Need that mix.

Drai is superman this year. He doesn't need Marner to feed him left and right. Guy is driving it this year and backchecking like mad.

Toronto would have a show dedicated to him every day if he played there

Wheres @Soundwave to tell me Drai never gets anything going on 2nd line and is entirely McD dependent? Drai doesn't need much and basically manages to get anybody going. 4pts and Drai all over it among several other plays. We win tonight on the 2nd line alone.

These are the best wingers Drai has ever had here, which is sad when you consider one was a waiver wire pickup and the other was considered a failed prospect traded for a 4th.

The chemistry isn't there yet fully, but the Oilers should nurture both players frankly but especially Podkolzin. He makes a lot of little good plays out there that many of our former 1st rounders like Puljujarvi and Yamamoto wouldn't make.

Again this is from the previous game, but look at this smart little pass to Ekholm, creates a chance where he hits the post. Tonight he springs Bouhard for a breakaway that results in a goal.

He can shoot the puck too, just needs to have his confidence built up.

f***in useless Flames gift Kucherov 6 pts on the night.

Having serious deja Vu, I swear either McD/Drai had a huge night in the scoring race and Calgary gifted Points to Kuch in the past too.
I wouldn't worry. Not a lot of teams are pathetic as the Flames. But tells you something too about how the lightning load up at the buffet for pts in games like this after all being flat nothings against the Oilers.

I liked Kap immediately here first game. Work well on cycle, was working skill plays with McD, now Drai since Hyman back. So hoping it stays with Kap on the line. I know its mean but hopefully Arvid out for awhile because Kapanen frankly works better. Arvid is too periphery now.

He'd be my (admittedly biased) vote for the hart winner in the first quarter of the season. His offence is as good as it's ever been, and this year his 200 ft game has been terrific. What a season he's having so far.
