These are nice, simple, high IQ plays that too many players on this team don't make enough of and it's also why we should be patient with this player. He has game, it will grow if you nurture it.

This is also why Leon and Connor praise this kid, he has the smarts to make plays like this whereas a Puljujarvi would play like a chicken with its head cut off on the ice.

Leon is playing some of the best hockey I've ever seen him play and Podz has been the perfect compliment for him. He just knows where to be on the ice to make it easier for 29

Also, as much as Pulju’s defensive game was lauded by the numbers guys, Podkolzin actually goes out and makes tangibly (or visually, as MacT would say) good defensive plays.
